What change in attitude do you see?

SP was so wrapped up in only doing what they thought they should without taking in the whole wide picture of the market in regards to dive computers. They are including GF in practically all of their dive computers even the lower end now as an example. They modernizing their line of thinking with dive computers. They are offering more options for their customers. More to come in the coming months.

"PDIS, Heart Rate Monitoring & Microbubble Levels take into account your previous data, your reported physical conditioning and your actual heart rate during the dive itself."

This looks like proprietary stuff again with mystical predictions. Looks like the same old same old to me. That display is entirely unimpressive for a new 2023 computer. I'm sorry but I am not impressed. Can't see anyone choosing that over a Shearwater (or Ratio) especially for tech despite their claims.

Offering Buhlmann ZH-L16C with GF? No SurfGF that I can find, I don't see current GF either. Tissue saturation graph? The default is their Buhlmann ZH-L ADT MB with all their stuff, MB levels, PDIS, Human Factors... I don't see the G3 as being competitive in the class. Scubapro is desperately trying to hold on to their proprietary features, too late.

Why just not make a competitive modern computer? The brand specific transmitter is just one more nail in the
coffin.

I wonder if they just published their proprietary features if they would suddenly gain an advantage in the market.

If the features are as valuable as they claim, they would gain a huge market share before others could catch up using the published data.

This has been in play for a long time, has not resulted in overwhelming success. What's the message, you'll be a lot safer with all these cryptic, more conservative adjustments to a baseline Buhlmann algorithm? Why not just use GFs, something you can at least understand. If you want really conservative, dive one of the RGBM algorithms.

I wonder if Scubapro talks to divers about their marketing thrust?

I guess I wasn't clear. I meant they should make public all their internal data and algorithms (in the sense that BHZ-16-C with GF's is public, not their detailed internal implementation). It would no longer be "secret sauce", but it would be "sauce" they had and no one else (for a while).

If it was all public knowledge (and good) people would adopt it like they adopted GF's.

Agreed. Can’t really understand the bottom portion of the face. Why block off a portion of a likely usable display (unless they went full custom, which adds cost) with a nameplate? I’ve received compliments on my Garmin in watch mode. There is a small Garmin nameplate along the bezel. The rest is usable screen.
Can't see anyone choosing that over a Shearwater (or Ratio) especially for tech despite their claims.
Yep, again. As a dive computer, I see better alternatives. As a watch, I also see better alternatives. Most for less money even. Please tell me that you can at least turn off that giant “S” in watch mode.

And predict. Being able to plan a dive based on your selected settings is important. Suddenly finding NDL is way less than anticipated is not a good thing. I could somewhat understand this approach if divers were being bent left and right, but that really isn’t the case. If it were, I think we’d see more dive computer manufacturers moving away from Buhlmann. The opposite seems to be happening.

I held the 60th Anniversary Edition of the G3 in my hands today. It looks very thick, but when compared against the Garmin Mk2i, I think it is about the same. The Garmin just does not "look" as thick...either because it is darker, or has smoother angles. I like the Red coloring better than the standard G3 with black bezel and blue logo.

I am actually more impressed with the MK25!! Look at that Red Spring!

It’s remarkable that SP have persisted with this subpar line of computers. Every new model seems to lag the market in terms of features and proprietary garbage. Is their marketing department completely unaware of user demands?

It just seems to be more layers of lipstick on the same pig. Lousy display-check. Unproven modified algorithm-check. High price-check. There is nothing about this computer that makes you go “wow”. Except the inflated price. But they apparently have a dedicated fanbase that will buy anything with a big S on it so be damned all ye critics.
