Ok -- so it's been awhile since I have posted anything about how I was doing. (That would be an understatement) but there really hasn't been any good to tell.
I was at a plateau and regressing. :depressed: Nobody wants to read that.
I had pretty much lost all hope of diving ever again.
I didn't feel safe alone in the pool... how could I feel safe in the ocean?
I was PMimg with Palsey who is a certified dive buddy with the Handicapped Scuba Association and has dived with people who have far less mobility than I do.
He referred me to a local HSA instructor met him a couple weeks ago.
My cardiologist has cleared me to dive from a cardiology point of view.
I have Baclofen pump that was surgically implanted in December 2007. This will limit my diving to 10 meters. (I am ok with this!
I just miss being a diver and the whole experience that goes along with it.)
My neurologist manages the pump thus need his signature as well but I see no problem in this. All of my other doctors thought it was great and have been very supportive when I told them I wanted to get back in the water.
I am getting physical therapy again!
I had my first session yesterday!
It went really well!
The outside of my palm and the tips of my fingers on my right hand have been starting to get numbness and tingling in them. She worked on my shoulder an scapula.
Then she worked on my right ankle/calf.
We did some patterning exercises to get my muscles out of the patters they are in.
Next time we will work on gait and other stuff.
I have PT 3 days a week and
My doctor has ordered occupational and speech (cognitive) therapy as well.
Things are definitely looking up! :cool2:
