Hi Charlie,

That was a great post with all the links to the local springs resources. Here are a couple of good links to springs info. I'd also recommend Ned Deloach's book, Underwater Florida, and the Complete Florida Springs Map and Guide, which you can pick up at any of the springs area dive ships. (Actually, I think Diver's Supply in Charlotte also carries the map.)

One brief caveat: The Great Outdoors Trading Company has a very nice store and a good web site, but the last two times we've eaten there, the food has sucked. Pricey, poor quality and poor service. Maybe I just had bad luck on two out of two tries, but let the diver beware... (i.e. pack a sandwich or two!)

Safe ascents,

ginnie and Devil's are a mus tdive, once. One dive at each is ,....Ginnie's a good one for night diving the cavern. ginnie is a good party place for family.

Ginnie,..on a holiday weekend make sure you get reservations far in advance.

Vortex is a good location for group, holiday dives. It is close to Morrison which is free now. You can rent canoes at Vortex and go up iver to cypress.

I have a canoe and 15' boat for anyone interested in coming out and diving them.

Probably hit Morrison Friday, I was down there this morning, water looked great.

Probably hit Vortex Sunday.

According to mapquest, Vortex is 3 hours and 53 minutes from Ginnie so I doubt we'll be venturing that far from camp. Thanks for the heads-up though.
Most in our group have never dived at Ginnie or Devils Den before so I think they will have a good time what with the vis and all. I agree that once you've seen it, you've seen it....so I'm looking forward to seeing all my dive buddies faces when they see it! Got admit, it is pretty impressive that first time! I think we'll all have a good time.

Grier, thanks for the info regarding the springs. I'll definitely have to get one of the maps. Are you going to try and make any of our future trips, like the springs or the wreck trip of April 1st?

I'm looking forward to diving Ginnie for the first time, especially the night dive. I did Devils Den for my checkouts, and I'm looking forward to diving it when I don't have to worry about performing skills. I think it's a cool place. Yeah, you could get bored diving it to often but it will be a fun dive for the first timers.

Sorry Mel, that was bad.

Anyhoo, I can't wait to do the night dive at Ginnie. I haven't done Devil's Den in years so that will be cool as well. The main thing is to get everyone diving together and have a good time :D

Unfortuantly you will probably have to dodge countless kids off for the holidays.
What is this holiday that you keep mentioning. Feb18-21 is not any holiday that I am aware of?
