I'd first decide if I wanted a piston or diaphragm reg. Then I'd decide if I wanted a metal or plastic second. Adjustable or not. Then I'd scour want ads and friends' gear lockers and MAYBE an LDS. I prefer USD/AL but to me the newer AL seconds look like toys. I'd probably wind up with an older Sherwood for everyday work and a SP Mk5 + G250 or 109 for cool factor. Then I'd spend the 500 dollars I saved on a dive trip to Baja, some good bourbon and a senorita

Don't forget to save some money for the antibiotics when you get back.....wait, did I actually write that or just think it?
