See what I mean - models are changing again! One model last night brought it right over us, and now just to the north of us - no certainty yet, still too early - but we are watching it! In the meantime, let's go diving!

Honestly, if I was leaving for Coz in the next few days - and the airlines were certainly not allowing free changes, I'd go for sure. I'd know that I might get blown out, but that's always a risk on trips anytime, anywhere. But then I always take Trip Ins so at least I'd have that help if I decided to retreat later.

I guess it's going to be a long weekend on this thread...

If it happens, can someone get a pic of Ernesto from . . .

Updated maps as of 8/4/12 - 7am Phoenix Time. (click links for bigger view)..
The biggest and closest circle is the forecast route 72 hours out from today.

I looked back at my other posts in this thread and it's moving along at a pretty good clip. Hopefully it doesn't stall along the way.

Hopefully the thing will stall out. Stay safe, Christi. :)
Actually, the thing to hope for is that it keeps moving quickly. It's when tropical storms stop that they tend to build strength.

Can we start with Florence, yet? She just might hit in two weeks...!!

[-]Heck she hasn't been christened yet. That was supposed to happen this morning.[/-]

They were diving in a couple days after Wilma right? The place was a mess and all, but I think my op was out diving quickly.
Actually no, as I remember; I believe that survey dives started up pretty quickly after Wilma but it was several days before they were taking customers out. But Wilma was a special case; it was a once in a hundred years strike. Usually the dive boats are out again very quickly after a storm.

No, actually it was almost a couple of weeks before they would let us out even to start the ocean clean-up for debris and trash due to the contamination in the water. There also weren't any commercial flights or cruises coming in for several weeks, so there was no one to take diving! The flights didn't start coming back until electricity and basic resources were restored. First customers were coming back Thanksgiving week and things were still not totally back to normal.

But Wilma was a TOTALLY different animal! The chances of us having another one like that are VERY slim in our lifetime.

Alright, I *may* have been a little loose with the facts there. You can read Alison's log of Wilma here and scroll down to October 20th. It is a fascinating read about a huge hurricane! Looks like she was diving again with customers on the 13th of November. Still as big as that one was, it is still amazing how fast they got the island back 'in service.'

I hope this thing skips north and comes into the gulf and right up over Arkansas.....Ernesto the drought breaker come on baby!

You might just get your wish if it turns north like most of the computer models are showing..
