Honestly, if I was leaving for Coz in the next few days - and the airlines were certainly not allowing free changes, I'd go for sure. I'd know that I might get blown out, but that's always a risk on trips anytime, anywhere. But then I always take Trip Ins so at least I'd have that help if I decided to retreat later.
I guess it's going to be a long weekend on this thread...
Actually, the thing to hope for is that it keeps moving quickly. It's when tropical storms stop that they tend to build strength.Hopefully the thing will stall out. Stay safe, Christi.![]()
Actually no, as I remember; I believe that survey dives started up pretty quickly after Wilma but it was several days before they were taking customers out. But Wilma was a special case; it was a once in a hundred years strike. Usually the dive boats are out again very quickly after a storm. They were diving in a couple days after Wilma right? The place was a mess and all, but I think my op was out diving quickly.

No, actually it was almost a couple of weeks before they would let us out even to start the ocean clean-up for debris and trash due to the contamination in the water. There also weren't any commercial flights or cruises coming in for several weeks, so there was no one to take diving! The flights didn't start coming back until electricity and basic resources were restored. First customers were coming back Thanksgiving week and things were still not totally back to normal.
But Wilma was a TOTALLY different animal! The chances of us having another one like that are VERY slim in our lifetime.
I hope this thing skips north and comes into the gulf and right up over Arkansas.....Ernesto the drought breaker come on baby!
