    GPO killing at Cove 2

Does anyone think that the pollutants from the Duwamish river flowing into that area are not the smartest area to be gathering from? I dive in a dry suit and that protection is the only comfort I get to exposing myself to the water there

Spearfishing with a pneumatic speargun effectively & ALWAYS time your snorkel blast..

Those little guns are really cute! But seriously, what do you shoot with a 50cm speargun?

Tacoma DIVE/Travel Expo Treasure Hunt was not fair

Your assumption that I've done nothing is false; I volunteered all three days and even hung with Rick's son on several jobs (great chronic). I also travelled quite a distance at my expense to do this. In addition, all volunteers get free admission but I also paid $35 for the treasure hunt...

Tacoma DIVE/Travel Expo Treasure Hunt was not fair

Dood, get over it not everyone is going to win. You pay your $35 and take your chances. Yeah, I was there and did the dive with my DM. At the 5:30 prize announcement he actually figured it out first and said "hey, they're giving gifts in alphabetical order of the first name, it has...

    ID please

Last weekend's dive with the Marker Buoy Dive Club at Anacortes http://markerbuoydiveclub.org/ we saw a huge nudibranch egg mass that was 10 inches across and the same off-white color of your photo. I'm guessing something large like a lemon peel Nudi... Very nice!

    Nitrox??? Really???

+1 Lots emotion, not an especially rational discussion. I thought the best prevention from DCS was to hydrate before a dive... There are people who appear fat yet are actully in shape.

Hood Canal diving: How polluted + how invassive is it?

I haven't been diving in Hood Canal for years and was contemplating it. The news and several websites have had many "doom and gloom" articles regarding pollution levels and the invasive tunicates http://www.pnwscuba.com/invasives/index.htm How bad is it? Would that stop anyone from...

    Diving The San Juan Islands!

I was thinking of going on their May 12th day trip through NW Sports Divers, $85 for 3 tank diving: http://www.nwsportsdivers.com/Deep%20Sea%20Charter.html I called NWSD and they are scheduling the destinations as James and Lopez Island

    Oceanic Pro Plus II

The connector to the dive computer is dodgy and I found that I had to hold the cable and the DC to make sure it was connected completely the whole time, but the download works!

    visiting seattle from no calif

Good advice, but you don't need to take a ferry to go diving in the San Juans, many dive operators are on the closest mainland harbors near Anacortes

    visiting seattle from no calif

I lived in Santa Rosa for 2 years and Mountain View for 4 years, but am in Seattle now. I've been on over 50 days of diving with Chris, Jerry, etc. at Truth Aquatics and enjoyed their trips, but unfortunately I don't know of a organization that big in the Seattle/Vancouver area (3 ships, each...

    NEW Oceanic OceanLog PC Interface

Thanks, I was having difficulty with the install out of the box, but will try the upgrade now.

    Oceanic Pro Plus II

I recently upgraded to a ProPlus 2 from a 12 year old DataMax that was functioning fine, had 1000+ dives on it, but just didn't have Nitrox or dive log capabilities. Prior to that I had an Oceanic made Aqualung Scan, so I'm used to these and enjoy them. All has been great with the...

Diver Death in Los Angeles- Point Fermin?

Diving with a rebreather is very liberating but that doesn't necessarily make them very good buddies. I've seen Rebrether divers just take off on their own...

    Quick Disconnect or not

It is on the way back to the factory from UnderwaterSports Seattle as of Aug 7, 2006. If interested, perhaps you'll want to look into it. For the record, I've been happy with Oceanic computers for 12 years and still am. PS - I probably should not of put that warning about water...

    Free batteries for Suunto computers!!!

You can change the battery in the mosquito yourself, a 25 cent coin is all you need to open the case. The problem is not the computer running low in mid-dive but running low in mid-week of a multi-thousand dollar dive trip. Most computers can sustain many dives when the LOW BATT indicator...

New computer advice. Suunto D9 maybe?

Suunto D9 has had a recall in 2004 and another in 2006, both for software defects that cause readings to be overly liberal. This means it violates the algorithm, and could falsely lead you to believe that you are not in a decompression situation when you really are. This speaks very...

    Quick Disconnect or not

BE CAREFUL OF WATER INTRUSION I bought a Pro Plus QD week before last and dove with it for the first time last weekend (deep Dive for six gill sharks). QD'ed it between dives to examine it/log in the boat cabin and upon preparing for Dive #2 the display failed on me with LCD segments...

    Free batteries for Suunto computers!!!

Marketing is compensating for poor Engineering I saw this for the D6/D9 at the last weekends Diver's Fair. Seemed to me this was a consumer's reaction to their poor design, where the user can not change batteries. I would have gladly paid the high dollar prices for their computers, but not...
