Actually, this happens to be the one and only campsite I have EVER visited in any county in California. Not much of a camper here, but I did make note of the restroom facilities.

On all my previous attempts to dive Leo Carrillo, surf has been an issue, so maybe if I don't decide until the last minute, it will stay calm. I am a bit of a surf jinx.

I wanna camp. This time I'll make it, I promise. I finish finals on the 11th so I'll be on winter break. I have no excuse to miss this dive now. I can probably steal(borrow) my family's easy up cover as long as my lil brother doesn't have a swim meet. Right now it'll just be me coming. but that might change.

I might have access to a zodiac if there's a place to launch it from. How about tanks? is there a place to fill them anywhere nearby or are we bringing enough to last us the weekend?

Malibu divers is open 8-6 sat, 10-5 sun. I still suggest bringing as many tanks as you can, they aren't the fastest fillers in the world. They are 22 minutes away from Leo (no traffic), longer with traffic. There are many dive sites between Leo and the dive shop also.

As a matter of fact, I went down to Leo today (just for fun). It is a nice camping area. Talked to a guy and he told me group campground holds up to 8 ppl per and there is no parking next to the group site (drop off ok). He also said he hasn't camp there for a while and the rules may well have been changed.

From Leo to Sport Chalet in Oxnard is about 20 miles (mostly PCH). If someone has a big truck, maybe all of us can chip-in for air-runs? Just a thought. And Headhunter/wrinkles, I will camp too. Please add me in. Also I will be staying on Sun and claim it my last dive in 2004.

According to the website, the group campground holds a total of 50 people with each space in the campground holding about 8 people. They have BBQ pits, fire rings and picnic tables. The group campground is 100 yards from the parking.

I'm thinking that Malibu Divers is a bit closer (I think about 18 mi) than going to Oxnard on what I think may be a straighter stretch of PCH. Taking runs with a truck to Malibu Divers will probably take less time, but maybe not if they are that slow at filling tanks. Does anyone have specific experience with this?

Holy cow, a Wrinkles dive that isn't down in Orange County? Sign me up!

Well, sign me up tentatively, anyway. Saturday is more likely than Sunday unless I decide to go Sunday, either day is tentative depending on my poker night in Pomona that Saturday. If I do show up I'll probably have my wife and 8-yr old daughter with me, who will stay on dry land.

Hi Christian,
I'll be driving up to play on Sunday! yea! More wrinkly fun! Probably just me, but Dive California might want to attend just to cool down from all that warm water in Roatan!! Carlos?
I can bring food or supplies once it's decided what the Sunday menu will be.
Thanks,
Claudette

I won't be able to make this month's dive. I hope that you all have excellent weather, no surf, incredible viz and warm water. May your Holidays also rock!

Ok ….

So let’s get this moving along here….

I think the BBQ should happen only on Sunday. It seems that most people are going to be able to make it this day anyways. If we try to have it between both days I feel that it will be harder to coordinate the food and supplies. So what do you guys think of on Saturday have it like bring what you want to eat to support your own needs and on Sunday have the official BBQ?

I have class on Saturday so I am unsure of what time I will be meeting everyone on Saturday. I am thinking that since a lot of people are not going to camp we might be better off getting individual campsites. Of course people can coordinate between themselves who is going to share the campsites. That way we only really have to get maybe two at the most.

And the BBQ could be done at one of the campsites that we will have occupied on Saturday. I think everyone pretty much has each others cell and a way to contact everyone. I could even post on the internet via my cell phone where we are and so forth. I am just hoping I can get out of some obligations so I can be there before sunset on Saturday.

So for the BBQ on Sunday I can bring the condiments….ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes. I still have some paper plates too from the last dive so I can bring those as well.

Good idea and simplifies things. I've updated the 1st post to reflect this. We can always change it back if people want to BBQ on both days.

From what I read on the Leo Carrillo website, not all have a BBQ, Fire Ring and Picnic Table. Close proximity to Showers and Restrooms might be a good idea too. I'm not familiar with the campground. Which 2 or 3 should we choose?
