Also, depending on what transistors you bought, you could be in a mess trying to get the correct orientation for them. I've forgotten most of my statistics classes, but if you take all the possible configurations for the 9 leads from the 3 transistors... you could spend months trying to blindly get it right. If the number on your transistors isn't exactly as listed on the plans you used, chances are the pin configuration isn't the same. Thats a big headache and thats exactly what made me decide to start making up DIY kits for people. I had that problem when I tried to build my first interface and saw that a lot of other people probably ran into the same problem. I spent a lot of time mapping configurations that worked. So I can help, first of all, are the part numbers the same as in the plans? If not, you need to find out which pin is which on each transistor. Also, make sure you didn't mix up a pnp with a npn.
