Yeah, but Kev requires mens bathing suits.

Only for men.

Hey! I managed to get the camera in the water again today! We've had some pretty good diving through the week so far, but the trips have always been the kind of trips that I shouldn't bring a camera on.
Today was different though! Deepstops, Down4Fun, Orlando Eric, Angel of Death and a couple of Non-SBers (as far as I know) came out and we had a blast. I had a blast anyway, I guess I shouldn't put words into any one's mouths. Topside conditions were about as good as they get out there, with flat seas, sunny skies, and room temperature air. Down below it had cooled off a bit, I showed 73º on my machine. We had a very slight north current and about 45' vis on both dives.

It was a beautiful day to be out there.

We did Delray Ledge on the first one and Seagate on the second. I have been having trouble with my strobe not syncing in STTL mode, so I struggled with it for a while, and then eventually ended up shooting it in manual, so I don't have tons of pics, but Angel of Death was shooting too, so maybe she'll share.

Tigerspaw.jpg

Even with the sun shining topside, the water was cloudy enough that it was kinda dark down there... dark enough for the Tigers Paw Cucumbers to be coming out.

Deepstops2.jpg

Deepstops had a pretty puffy catch bag by the end of the day with a couple of bruiser lobsters in there. One of them was a three or three and a half pounder.
Here he is plying the depths in search of crustaceans.

Here's one that managed to get by Deepstops, with Angel of Death in the background.

anenome.jpg

Angel of Death and I dove together, and though I didn't see anything big, I did manage to find an anenome.

Here's Angel of Death working the ledge.

I had alot of fun today! I hope tomorrow will be as nice!

Hey! You're welcome! Thanks for reading this!

Whoa! The word for the day is Super Duper, because that's the kind of fun we had diving.

We had the pleasure of diving with Angel of Death once again, and were also joined by HowardE and Muggsy, as well as a couple of others that may or may not be on the board. They decided to go north this morning, so off to Casino and the Horseshoe we went. Seas were not as flat as I had expected, maybe 2-3' on the way up there, but seemed to subside throughout the trip and were something like 1-2' by the time we headed home. I forgot to check the water temp, but my guess is that it was the same as yesterday... 73ish. Vis was kinda down, maybe 30-35' with very fine suspended solids, so it was kinda foggy, dark, and a little green. The viz didn't stop the critters though, as they were out in full force. There was a slight north current on both dives.

I am hopeful that Angel of Death will be posting some of her photos from the last couple of dives, but until then, here's some of the highlights of my swims.

JuvNanem2.jpg

I stumbled upon a juvie angel/anemone combo shot in the beginning of Casino.

Green.jpg

This big fellah was cruising around towards the end of Casino until I showed up with my camera, and he struck this pose.

Octopus2.jpg

This octopus was hiding-out on the ledge on the way to the Horseshoe. After I left , AOD said that he closed his clam.

French.jpg

As usual, the Horseshoe was teeming with life.

Nurse.jpg

This nurse shark was bothered (and perhaps blinded) by my strobe and left this little ledge after a few shots. He made a bee-line for Francois, who was I'm sure, certain that he was about to be attacked. It ended up missing him by about a foot, and Francois just sat there for several minutes afterwards, staring in the direction where the shark had disappeared.

Dolphin.jpg

The absolute highlight of the day was that on the way back to the marina, we found a pod of Bottlenosed Dolphin. There were probably 30-50 of them. Alex dropped me in front of them with just a mask and fins on and though I wasn't able to get a good shot, I did get evidence. It was very cool swimming with them... how incredibly agile and fast! Sorry about the little bubbles, I didn't have time to clean off my lens.

Wow!! That sounds (and looks) like almost as much fun as cave diving.

I don't know about cave diving but I'll certainly second that "wow"! An octopus, nurse shark and dolphins all in one day?? Wow, indeed!

Wow! I love Boynton Beach.....

Nice Super Duper Pics Kev!!

NIce photoshop there of the dolphins! :D :D :D

Seriously, awesome day! Wish I could have been there.

It was the best weather weekend. Aside from the water temp, if your prepared there's no reason to not dive!
NO photoshop there folks.
I was there and I saw all of them all around us. Like Howard said "It's like being at the dolphin show without the trainers. They do all the tricks in the wild like you'd see at a show. Tail slapping, jumping - it was an incredible sight!"
