any reccomendation on after diving entertainment for those who have been to key largo?
Sharkys is in the same bldg as Ocean Divers local watering hole right on the canal good food Oh did I mention cold beverages TOO :D :D

Sharky's is good, as well as the Galley.

Jcsgt:
Very true.

I've been seeing nurse sharks on just about every other dive, and I've seen a reef shark on four different dives in the last three weeks (at Molasses).

Sharky's is good and nearby is Coconuts (at the Marina Del Mar) Both of these have music much of the time. The Buzzards Roost was also good.(you can sit indoors or out) Buzzards roost has a great burger as well as seafood. It is the last road to the right before you head back toward Homestead. Look for the large Buzzard sitting on the hood of a car and take a right if you are headed north. I forget the MM.

We saw a couple of reef sharks (on the same dive) over Memorial Day weekend at the French Reef (south side). They hung around more than my wife appreciated. But she is ready to take the plunge again.

I too see sharks at Molasses just about everytime I dive. Mostly reef sharks in the
3-6' range. Last week we saw a big mama nurse shark about 9' long at sand island.
But the more aggresive bull sharks are not as common until you head out towards Bimini.

dove molasses deep(50-60ft dropping to 95ft ) last week(8 dives, fri, sat and sun) and had a large(estimated 9 to 12ft) great hammerhead(only saw one other shark, large nurse, on the remaining 7 dives) circle us on the northern deep buoy while descending to 55ft! also observed multiple schools of eagle rays, 8 to 12 in four schools and 25 + in another. water temp @ 85ft was 78-79f and 80f at the surface. wore a 3mm and was comfortable. viz ranged from 90-100ft on sat to 40 to 50ft on fri and sun with light to mdt current. iv'e lived in key largo for 18yrs and the diving on molasses this past week was simply electric!. turtles and eagle rays were observed on all 8 dives!

I meant non-nurse sharks.

I am leaving in about three hours for Key Largo. I packed a 3 mil and a thin lycra skin. I used to just dive in a swim suit, but brushes with jelly fish have me wearing some sort of thin protection now. Have fun.

Any suggestions on dive boat etiquette, such as tipping, placing gear.. what I should definately bring on a boat to be comfortable etc??

tipping on a dive boat, like anywhere else is not mandatory but is certainly appreciated...I normally tip 5 to 10 bucks depending on the experience; as for gear, keep your bag underneath your seat below your tanks or somewhere else out of the way and try to keep yourself and your gear in your own "2-tank space" as much as possible...I carry a small to medium sized dry bag with a towel, extra shirt, sunscreen, wallet, keys, etc....all boats are different, but there will be somewhere to keep these dry goods, just ask the crew if you are unsure about anything, most will be glad to help....and if they don't, there goes that tip:D have a great trip!!!!!
