My thoughts and prayers are with you. I had brain surgery December 1, 2004. They had to go through the skull (not fun!) Anyway, Just to let you know that I had heard so many different recommendations. My neurologist said August 2005. DAN said 1-3 years. My dive physician in Bonaire said after the bones and the dura mater (covering of brain) is healed. I'm going to try again in August. I have been told by ALL physicians though to not make my first few dives deeper than 30 ft. See how I do, then proceed until I am comfortable. Definitely talk with your physician. Ask him to recommend a neurologist that specializes in diving (I found that DAN only gives you a generic idea, then can refer you to a dive physician in your area).
Best of luck, I know what you are going through.
