I suppose so! Kind of suprised no one took me up on the phrack mention though...

I guess its time to contact the usual suspects... And after that hit the IEEE literature.

...do they still put that out ? So, are you a phreak or a hacker ?
I'm not THAT into computers....I just enjoy the graphic arts.

Through my coke bottle eye glasses, I was scrolling down the forum page. I thought it read " how many greeks do we have on the board"

Then later I saw that there was 3 pages of replies. I thought to myself," Geez, a lot of Greeks must scuba dive." So I opened it up. This is nothing but one "Big Fat Geek Wedding"

Ok, I guess I am one. Especially when it comes to digital pictures. I help everyone out.

"Yo Geek Boy", himself. :tease:

Hello, My name is Pete, and I am a Geek-a-holic. When I get up the first thing I do in the am is to check my e-mail and make sure that all of my client's backups did fine and that they have no other issues.

Then I read the SB and play Wolfenstien on-line (look for Col Klink ). Sometimes, I even go and visit client sites and and correct issues with their networks. Did I tell you how much I love Billy-Bob Gates? Heck, if I can't figure something out, I just roll my eyes and blame him. :tease: No one ever disagrees with me either!

In a former life I was an ASE Certified Maser Auto Technician. some were impressed, but not many... I was always seen as a grease monkey. Now they call me "guru" and I get far more respect than I deserve. I get asked a bunch of tech questions by other instructors and even answer most of them too. Now that I have my 2000 lumen projector many of my fellow instructors see me as the presentation guru. Yeah, I enjoy being the go-to guy for power point presentations and the like. Life could be worse!

Real geeks don't need no stinking Micros$$t certifications...
Hear hear!!!!

I'm a UNIX geek; SunOS, Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD and the associated Open Source tools like GCC, Sendmail, BIND, etc. I just happen to currently work in a place that is Windows-centric. This is changing though, as we're migrating to SAP+Solaris+Oracle for our ERP system.

I personally equate the certifications like MCSE to a diver's c-card; just because you're certified doesn't mean you know anything. I've worked (and are working with!) MCSEs that I wouldn't let work on my home computer, let alone mission critical business systems.

If you ever see a yellow Xterra driving around the Tacoma/Seattle area with the license plate LNXGEEK, that's me. Wave and say hi!

LOL, well,

a+, MCSE, network +, and and associates degree in applied technology.

(and that and a buck will buy me a cup of coffee!)
:eek:ut:

I, too, am a geek! I have a BS in theoretical computer science and a MCSD cert. I program in VB, VB.NET, Java, C, C++, SQL, and several UN*X scripting languages. Even my fiance is into computers! I agree with the previous posts that Linux rules and MS drools!!! :freak:

I have a BSME...working towards a MSME....

A good friend once showed me the difference between Bachelor's Master's and Doc's

Bull - Shi+....

I'm am MCSE, CNE, and MCT. Those, plus 18 years experience, and I've still been laid off for 3 months.
I don't know which I hate more, Microsoft or Novell. :bonk:

Yes I'm a geek,

I work for one of the largest Computer Mfg's and support Latin America, US and Can technical escalations (these are the ones that that after every one else has played with then they come to me). I support deployment, network, os and hw/driver/bios issues. I am cert by Microsoft, Novel, and a few others and will be soon working on Linix certs. I have direct connections to reps from Microsoft, Novel and most vendors (ATI, Matrox, Nvidia, Western Digital, Adaptec etc, etc) .

I don't list my abc's because I can't count how many times I've had to teach-explaine to so-called MCSE's, CNE's and network admin's who do.

As to being a geek. I wired my house with Cat 5 and run my own Win2k Active Dir domain with 5 nodes and layer 3 switchs and use RIS installs at the house when the kids goof up the SW loads. I've been thinking of installing 802.11. I want a plasma TV and and I have Boxs that still work going back to 8088 procs. I think I still have some copies of dos 5 and win 3.1 around some place. I have worked for custom PC board and cable shops and performed radar repair for the Army.
