Any rechargeable batteries, items containing rechargeable batteries, and standard batteries must be in your carry-on. Lock any rechargeable batteries if possible and place all other batteries in containers or individual baggies so they are secure and not loose. I also recommend not placing them all in one place. As Photographers with many batteries, it's better to make it seem like you don't have as many batteries as you actually do. I hope that makes sense. Anything fragile or camera equipment goes in your carry-on as well. That's also why I suggest those extra pockets in your clothing if needed.

Are most people just doing 2 larger checked bags and a personal bag and skipping the "carry on".

We will have two large checked bags, one with equipment and one with clothes. But we will carry on camera and computers. I have a big beach bag that can hold everything but the kitchen sink, and it will be my personal item. I think we're bringing a laptop too (just in case work calls) and my hubby will have that as his personal item.

We're bringing 2 checked bags, 1 carry-on, 1 personal bag for each of us. So 4 pieces each.
The 2 checked bags will be under 50 lbs. And the other pieces will be what they'll be. We'll shuffle or pay extra if nessasary.
Putting cameras, housing and parts, lights, and electronics in our carry on and personal item.
With batteries, the carry on bag cannot be forced to be checked.

Philippines Airlines allows 50lbs checked for free and in very small print 7kg (15lbs) for a carry on. Does anyone know if they actually weigh our carry ons?
Last time, we didn't have any problems with Philippines Air, only with CEBU the inter Island Air, but that was 8 yrs ago.
That's also why I suggest those extra pockets in your clothing if needed. You can put things in your pockets, then once through the gate, back into the carry on.

Some of you have asked about tipping in the Philippines.
Here's a video to help you understand the people and there customs better.
Approximately 50 php = $1.00 us

Hello Crew,

I just wanted to update everyone on the Philippines government luggage and regulator regulations.
It is no longer necessary to pack your regulators in your checked luggage. So you may carry them where you wish.

Sorry for the confusion,
See everyone soon!
