Those intelligent and articulate comments have certainly changed my opinion of Linux. I better go unplug my office file server right this minute!

IMHO, linux is good only for Cheap FREE backend servers ( MAIL, APACHE, MYSQL ........etc.)
'cause i'm not 100% (or even 95%) certain that it was meant as one. :) Hmm - if there's enough *real* IT geeks (note - there are other kinds) on the board, this oughta cause trouble and/or an argument over Linux flavours :p

cat
(used to know some assembler but I'm all better now...)

MandrakeSoft, the French vendor of a respected distribution of Linux, recently filed a "declaration de cessation des paiements," which is the French equivalent of the US "Chapter 11" bankruptcy. They're not out of business, but are in deep financial trouble.

What is there to argue about? There is Debian, and the rest are crap. The simple fact that one has to REGISTER to use 'up2date', whereas apt just works is reason enough to always use Debian.

Ducking and running,
Jimmie

PS to Riderforlife13: MCSD = "more cash spent diving" :)

You know, the whole time I was taking the class I never knew what MCSD even meant. I'm glad I know now. :bonk: It all makes perfect sense to me. And to think, I thought it had something to do with computers....

I've been socially conditioned to be unresponsive to the work geek. Brings up too many contrived images of revenge of the nerd movies.

Anyway, I'm an MCT, MCSE, A+, and Net+. Not the most exciting of jobs but it pays the bills, which get to be quite substantial when one is starting to embark into the world of technical diving.

Cheers!!

Hey, that's OK! Most people don't know what MCSE stands for, either. Here's some examples of the true expantion of the acronym MCSE:

Must Consult Someone Experienced
Morons Crudely Simulating Expertise
Moe and Curly's Software Emporium
Minesweeper Consultant / Solitaire Expert

Many more expantions of MCSE revealed here

(you DO know I was teasing you Rider, right?)

Hey kalvyn....you hurt my feelings man....... I knew you were kidding. Seriously though, it does mean i'll be spending more on diving...:eek:ut:

Only support geeks would know what the following acronym would mean.

PEBCAK is often written in the solution or origin of problem section of the work order.

I will give others a chance to post the meaning for a while.

ID TEN T ID 10 T ID10T is another reason given for problems
