Funny, even though I have about 3 hours on the Vandenberg it was all work and I don't really feel I got to see much of it at all

I need to plan a trip to go down and enjoy

But did you wash your hands.:D I had a great time diving and working with you.

Wait. Can diving the Vandy and "work" be used in the same converstaion? :D

I never said I didn't enjoy working on the Vandenberg...

The trouble with a 'working dive' is that somebody else is deciding what you'll be doing down there.

When I do my first pleasure or teaching dives I'll get to see the parts of the ship I want to see... and there is a lot to see.

"I've been told they had some type of an exemption to let some National Geographic people take pictures," he said. "What's so special about National Geographic? I was taking pictures for a Web site."

Hahahaha, what a clown. Yes, National Geographic and Bonsai Divers are definitely the same.

noted underwater photographers; david doubilet, on assignment for national geographic and stephenfrink, working for the monroe county TDC(tourist development council), were aboard the boat in question yesterday. only topside photos were permitted and they plan on diving the wreck this morning and afternoon for underwater photos. when their articles and photographs are published, with a worldwide audience, that publicity is priceless(yeah, i'd call that special!!!)

So Frink and NatGeo wanted the exclusive "first dive" and didn't get it? Is that what this is all about? How does that change the whole publicity/worldwide audience equation? It sounds like maybe the VIPs lost their chance at bragging rights?

...fully enjoy it without having to bring our own compressor & boat...

Along those lines, are there rules or regulations for using your own boat? I'm guessing the standard courtesy of first come, first serve at the morring balls, but just want to make sure.

You really think it was about bragging rights for National Geographic and Frink? LOL...

it had absolutley nothing to do with bragging rights. the photographers were told weeks before the sinking that their 1st dive would be friday or saturday, 2-3 days after the sinking, and the wreck already visited by dozens of safety divers and noaa buoy and enviromental specialists(divers) . thursday, they dove joe's tug and western sambos. their assignments had nothing to do with being the 1st divers down. i suppose a pictorial in national geo magazine and professional photos on newswires worldwide, gracing the covers of monroe county-key west travel brochures and websites is not grabbing attention and bringing positive results for the residents of our island chain(as well as paying off vandenberg debt)? neither diver in question, was paid for the coverage(although their diving was complementary)! get your facts(excuse me, you have no facts) straight, john_b

I had no facts to get straight, I asked a question (based on information that others posted).

I am not aware of any special rules. My understanding is, as you guessed, first come first served.
