@Nick_Radov That's very patronising... What do you know about the training of Italian Fire Brigade?
I mean it's observable, we can observe the practices, we don't need to know more.

Although you may personally not imagine diving 50 m with air, this was not unusual - to not say absolutely common - for a long time for trained divers (at least in Europe...). (I won't go into the details how deep and how long i use to dive when my hair was less grey... that would be showing off...)
We use to treat infections with mercury, doesn't mean we should still do it.

The authorities are only allowing fire rescue divers to dive, and fire rescue divers are only allowed to use accredited equipment, which is mostly used to recover bodies from cars in rivers. I just hope none of the recovery divers get hurt, it's a body recovery operation in everything but name.
so ridiculous

While watching a BBC report this morning from port-side there in Sicily - although no comment was made regards the following - saw a brief few seconds of a person laid on a gurney / stretcher appearing to being loaded onto a trailer that (only) carried a small recompression chamber. Any news of any incidents requiring related treatment?

The good news (as far as we're aware) is none of the rescuers needed rescuing; the sadness of the Thai cave rescue.

Most of the media coverage has been pretty crap regarding the diving and even the sinking. Mostly they were just about Open Water knowledge at best, endlessly replaying the same few pieces of footage.

Wasn't suggesting that anyone needed 'rescuing', rather maybe needing a treatment.

It appears the news coverage about the divers was really crap!

Here is a picture that was part of a story about the last body being recovered

I see doubles and deco bottles

I heard that after the first two days of effort by the fire brigade team, cave (or wreck) divers were brought in from other parts of Italy and that’s what we may be looking at in the picture.

In other news the co-defendant and accused with Lynch was mysteriously struck (and killed) by a car just days before this incident … he actually died in the hospital just a few hours before this tragedy it seems … food for conspiracy theorists…?
