The best desiccant packs are at Preservation Station. Use the 2gram packs. They change color as they absorb water and they are easily recharged. I've been using them for years.

I have an Ikelite and a Canon G11 housing and have never had a problem with either...
I have a G11 and Ike housing which is a little bigger. I like the sturdy grip and size of the Ike handle, especially since I usually have a DS125 strobe on it. I think that I am mostly just used to using it.
I take the canon housing if I just want to have a minimal setup, often without the...
Thanks for the info. I'll hold off on a smaller wing, since the 35 dives well enough. I will be buying a Kydex backplate, though.
FYI, I was at a trade show for medical device manufacturing, which is my profession. Kydex had a booth and the lady there knew who you were. She said that you...
Tobin,
What are the dry weights for the Torus 17 and Torus 35 wings? I am considering getting a 17 for tropical vacations, but I'm wondering how much luggage weight I am saving for $300.
Love my rig.
Thank you,
David
I use the Ikelite one handle tray. I have a brand new spare one if you are interested.
I use an ultralight tray and handle for my lighter Canon factory housing, like the smaller of the two below.
My arms are all standard ultralight arms like
I typically use a pair of 8" arms on each...
When I did mine:
1st cycle - 1 hour burn
2nd cycle - 2 hour burn
3rd cycle - 3 hour burn
4th cycle - 4 hour burn
5th cycle - 5 hour burn
6th cycle - 6 hour burn
Sense a trend here? I was totally shocked the first few cycles, but it works great. Good luck.
There is an eyepiece at the back of the housing. You put your eye to it and look through the viewfinder to frame the subject. One of the drawbacks of the Ike housing is that you have to get your eye (and mask) very close to the housing to see through the viewfinder. Works okay, but it would...
I have moved on from a G9 to a G11. Therefore, I am selling the following:

In very good condition with all original parts, instructions, and packaging
Asking: $100 (lists for $240, Amazon for $170)
Red Filter for Canon G7/G9 housings
Brand new...
A few months ago, somebody at Dive Rite told me that they were testing a diffuser for the LED Lux which would make it more suitable for video lighting.
Is there any word on when this will be in production? The light is too hot in the center for even video lighting.
Thank you
David
I had the same problem with mine. PT gave me to repair kits consisting of an on/off switch, a small screw, and the black plastic part about 1.5" long that swings on the inside to trip the switch in the head unit. Is this what you need? I still have one left.
If you want it, how do I mail...
One of my dive buddies had one and I was very impressed. Twice as bright as a Light Cannon sounds about right. It would be on the top of my list if I was looking for a really bright non-canister light. It should also be much more durable than a Light Cannon and probably with a longer battery...
Loved the peacock flounder and the juvenile drummer (particularly that one). For the seahorse, try to get lower and a little more head-on. That is of course a tall request since they usually anchor themselves in inconvenient places. Interesting looking slipper lobster - looks like its a...
I'm sorry for your loss and I'm sure that its maddening.
Since the housing works at home (for multiple dives over several months, I'm guessing) and fails on vacation, my first thought went to your workflow for preparing the housing.
At home, I almost always set up my rig the night before...
Backscatter must make things particularly challenging for underwater photographers. Its particularly challenging in SoCal where the water isn't very clear.
I think that I will look for a local photography club in my town.
Congratulations on your win and on moving up in class.
David
Tobin,
Are there any images or instructions on how to assemble the Pro-Fit harness? I have a harness but got a hand-me-down Pro-Fit and I want to assemble it and see how it feels (particularly for warm water where I'm using minimal exposure protection).
I'm loving my new setup!
Thank...
