Thanks a Mill for all the good advise. I think I am going to try first to modify my Belt so it cant slip anymore off but still can be dumped if need be. I also suspect part of my problem is a slightly to big Wetsuit with has some Air pockets thus requiring more weight then I should have to use...
Hi there,
Just got a few dives and all in a 7 mill wetsuit becouse of the brutally cold water. I use a weight integrated BCD and also a 40lbs weightbelt.
Problem is my body wants to slip out of the weight Belt which I already cinch down like on a Packhorse.
Is there a better way to keep the...
PADI Delivers free of charge.
Beginning of June this year I received OW certification. After the final OW dive and back in the LDS my Instructor whipped out his newly acquired Camera and took my Picture for the Padi Card. Shortly thereafter my Card arrived but happy as I was, my Photo just...
It works for me becouse I take the Summer mostly for myself and can go when I please. There are some excellent Diving spots nearby and many more within a two hours Sail or the Diesel. Only drawback is the cold water nessesitating 7mill wetsuit which takes a lot of Lead to sink.

Here is the prototype Diving Platform on my Boat.

Good Job and maby the Doc was an ex Saddlery worker ;)
Glad you ask,
Its rolled with a bit of pressure over a pice of Leather or such. Where it made the tiny imprints from the starwheel thats where your Needle goes. Makes for a nice looking stitch.
Cheers

These are solid copper Rivets usualy available at Tack Shops or old fashioned Hardware Stores. they are frequently used to repair Horse Harnesses but are also ideal in the saltwater environment.

It,s not so much the "how much can I save Factor" I just hate Stuff what does not work or does not stand up or falls appart first chance it gets and usually at the most inconvenient moment. Becouse I spend much time in an Office I like to have an excuse to go into my Shop and work with my hands...
Commercial Fishnetting or the stuff they use on Salmon farms. Tons available in these parts, dirt cheap and almost
unbreakable.
For the Frame I us my supply of coilspring quality Stainless Steel 0.124 Wire almost unbreakable (it can be folded over hard and still wont break) but will wreck...
A very good repair can be done by yourself.
I understand you have a Houshold Sewing Machine. Use the Machine to fabricate a new net in the same shape and with 1/2" tripple folded over borders.
Goto a Hardware Store or Store which sells Saddles & halters and purchase a Handstiching Awl and a rol...
Thanks alot for the advise.
I was just wondering. When you used the 5lbs Bricks in your pouches did they hurt you, I mean could you feel the corners or was there no issue. Would be much easier to cast them to size and coat them with thick plastic paint ?????????????
Thanks for your comment, point well taken. I already had a gut feeling that this is possible and consider making several lead pouches sewn out of nylon so there is no chance of sticking. Besides that, I probably will always have to wear a Belt which is easy enough to get rid of in an emergency...
I am using a Belt but also need some extra weight (probably 4.5Kg) and are thinking to make my own using common lead shot sewn into nylon pouches. The plan is to stuff them into my Zeagle quick release pockets. Is there anything I have to watch out other then that they come out without a hitch...
As one whom just received certification very recently my advice. Before you start your classes practice clearing the Mask underwater untill totally confident while using the Snorkel in a Swimming Pool. Many Students including myself fail at this at first and may end up falling behind. There is...
Being new to Diving but having decades of commercial experience in Outdoor/Adventure I am naturaly wondering about LIABILITY.
While I understand that many experienced Divers (and perhaps some innexperienced ones) would not apreciate having there own equippment touched by somebody the hardly...
