As anyone made a scuba gear bag? If so, we're you able to find high quality (aka indestructible) mesh. If so, where?

Thanks!!

Using something similar to the windmesh they use on fences (especially tennis courts) but marketed as sun shade mesh (bigger holes in the lattice), my dad's made a pretty good weight bag and small gear bag. We made it like a tote bag, so no zippers. I'm not sure how a zipper would hold up on that material.
He used an industrial sewing machine to stitch it all together.

The material drains water readily and drys very fast.

I have had others suggest screen before. I was concerned about durability but am glad to hear that it holds up.

Commercial Fishnetting or the stuff they use on Salmon farms. Tons available in these parts, dirt cheap and almost
unbreakable.

For the Frame I us my supply of coilspring quality Stainless Steel 0.124 Wire almost unbreakable (it can be folded over hard and still wont break) but will wreck Tools and Vice eventually, it is so hard.

Cheers

How much are you looking to save, including your time?

You can get good bags for under $30 new at expensive dive shops

I'm not looking to save money, rather make something very custom. All that being said, I liked on of the bags suggested for use on my boat (rather than for diving). Thanks for the ideas on both accounts- mesh and bags!

The Rainshed Inc. is a good source for outdoor fabrics and hardware.

I agree it often doesn't make sense financially to make some things that can be found fairly cheaply, but I get the custom thing. Sometimes it can also make sense to buy something that's sort of like what you want and modify it.
