What did you buy that you regret?

- a pair of OMS 112s ... either larger cylinders to be used as singles or smaller cylinders to be used as doubles would have been better.

- a cheap reel

- a big knife

There are a few other items that I would regret if I had not found niche uses for them.

Almost everything I ever bought in the LDS when I got started. Lets see...

I paid $795 at the LDS for a computer that I later found for $479
I paid $480 at the LDS for a BCD I later found for $299
I paid $109 at the LDS for fins I later found for $39
I paid $45 at the LDS for a snorkel I later found for $11
I paid $450 at the LDS for a regulator I later found for $250
I paid $329 at the LDS for a wetsuit I later found for $189
I paid $199 at the LDS for a light set I later found for $99
I paid $780 at the LDS for 2 LP100's I later found for $500
I paid $108 at the LDS for a mask I later found for $45

Grand total $3295.00 spent
Should have cost me $1911.00
Money Wasted / Stolen by LDS $1384.00...

Yeah... I was an eggheaded newbie... now I tell my story like I'm at an AA meeting to help other newbies from making the same terrible mistakes. Same equipment - same warranties... much less expensive. Shop the internet and use the $1384 for a trip to the Carribean... Happy Diving.

I regret buying all the equipment I lost while diving - i.e. $100 titanium knife, $45 snorkel, $85 mask, $75 back-up light.

Haven't lost my console dive computer yet, but since I regret buying it, I'll probably have that thing for life.

Sometimes I feel like I'm outfitting all the other divers in my dive areas.

What a piece of junk .... keeping it together with duct tape and zip ties ... wires and springs and pieces of electronics spewed out all over my living room .... smoking and hissing and bubbling acid all over my lap ...
