Looking at the numbers in the poll and the many problems with the Teric... why do you guys still want it so bad? Must be the famous Shearwater customer service that's so attractive...

I previously owned one with no issue but shifted to a perdix 2, picked up a Teric on close out. I think the most common issues is battery needing to be charged , I use an Apple Watch so used to it. I probably would not own it as my only dive computer but it is likely most don’t have issues or wouldn’t notice the battery issues.

I might be contributing to this thread again already... Finished setting up the new one and threw it on the charger for the first time and it's displaying "LOW BAT TEMP" and won't charge (charger light flashes green). Anybody seen this one before? This particular error is not in the manual..
I believe that’s a new one - time to give SW a call…

Weird, try turning it off and then try charging again.

Because its just right, don’t want a couple of bricks on my arms
truly I wouldn’t tolerate this from any other maker who would insist on running you through the “dealer network” black hole. I use two of them and after a few shots at the battery thing mine have been perfect.

Thanks...I tried all that stuff already and still can't seem to get anywhere. I shot an email to Shearwater and will report back.

Sorry to hear that, a new problem we've not heard about before. I think that the flashing screen at turnoff on my Teric #6 was also a unique problem Teric owners, have you required repair or replacement service?

Maybe we're lonely and crave the attention we get from Shearwater's customer support team?
Many of us think that the Teric is a fabulous computer when it is working normally. For me, it is the perfect computer, though I do not need near all the features. The US service from Dive-Tronix and Richard and Michele Morton is quite extraordinary, I've never experienced anything like it. If it were not for the superlative service, I would have switched to a Perdix 2 or bailed from Shearwater altogether by now. I believe others share my view.

My lucky number 7 Teric was delivered yesterday. This one will be perfect

:rofl3: "Fabulous computer when it's working", who could argue with that. See also "beautiful vehicle when it doesn't accelerate into a wall of its own volition", "excellent airliner when doesn't fall out of the sky", and "a great boat when she doesn't sink with all hands".

Because the vast majority of problems that people have reported have all been simply that the battery does not hold a charge for as long as Shearwater says it should when it's stored.

It's not like a car that doesn't accelerate or an airliner that falls out of the sky.

Other than possibly a VERY small list of exceptions, Terics do not randomly fail during a dive - or even during a dive trip. They just need to be charged up every month or two when stored, instead of every 6 months, like the manual says.

I've had both of mine repaired several times each now. I can't remember exact numbers for something like 3 times each. They both need to be sent off and repaired again, now. But, the problem with them does not prevent me from diving with them. The only impact is having to charge them more often than the manual says.

And other than that, they are fantastic dive computers. I stick with them because I vastly prefer the small size and 4-button interface and compass over the Perdix 2.
