Well, I just tried the SS 1.5" quick links and it worked perfectly. I made sure to get 316 stainless and bought several of them. The fin fits perfectly to my foot now and doesn't crunch my big toe. I would've loved it if we had the choice to get the longer fin strap from the start but I guess for $7 this works fine too. Large foot pocket would've been too big for me.

Yeah everyone should have a chain of quicklinks if only for something else to jiggle in your pocket

Yeah just nip them up with those nimble fingers, and let the foreign particles, and rust do their job

Boy it's a magnificent day!

'Noticed the Quick-Link mod was starting to deform the plastic of my fin strap housing. RECOMMEND you remove quick-link ASAP.

'Worried it will wear through or weaken plastic & make that pinhole unserviceable, I replaced quick-link & original 10.5' spring with 13.5' Hollis Spring straps size XXL. Unfortunately, the Hollis springs only come as more expensive kit, but 'now have spare tiny bolt/nut/washer sets & heel cups. If you can get by with 11.5 inch spring, the Oceanic Manta Ray size XL is 1/4 price 'cause paying for spring only. Add 1/2 inch to length of spring when measure pin to pin to account for the 1/4" perpendicular attachment loop each side. Can take up to two inches slack out of spring by using toe ward holes. Spread the word if you see mod. Would be good conversation starter if see Eddy twin.

My size Large Eddy Flippers are in my bag for a SoFla trip leaving in a few days. I wear mine with 3mm booties without much issue. The stiff springs do sometimes push my toes into the front of the pocket, my foot size is 11 (NB, Nike). I usually just ignore it. My solution ultimately was Scubapro GoSport Gorilla fins. The open toe solves the scrunched up toe issue. Why am I not taking the GoSports on this trip, well, because my other dive bag is packed for yet another trip leaving almost as soon as I return so I am pre-packed for both trips. The luxury of accumulating enough scuba gear and other stuff to outfit a small rental fleet and with only small exaggeration. I may, in the fullness of time, retro fit or make a set bungee heel straps for my Eddy Flips. I have the material, just need to sit down and do it. The shiny stainless steel spring straps or so delicious to look at I can hardly bring myself to do it ;).
