Hey folks,

I bought a pair of XL Eddy's blind based on the sizing guidance on the Deep6 website. I was undecided between the L and XL because my regular shoes are UK11/US12 size. Went with the XL because there's an option to change the strap position to make them tighter.

I just received and tried them on and I find that they're perfect length-wise (even with the spring straps in default position). However, there's quite a bit of space on either side of the foot pocket such that my fingers can be inserted comfortably. I'm not sure whether this extra space is going to be a problem in water because the only other fins I've used are the Avanti Quattros and they were snug and comfortable.

I currently use Mares Equator 2mm soft-sole boots.

While I can return the fins, it's going to be a long process since I had them imported. I'd avoid this unless I can't find another solution. I now have 2 options:
1) Find hard-sole boots that minimize the extra space in the footpockets
2) Make the straps tighter by moving them forward - This may prevent the feet from shuffling but could push my toes all the way to the front of the foot pocket since the default strap positions seems ideal.

What do you recommend? Here are some pics for reference.

Have you tried in water yet?

Do that, if a problem, we can sort it then.

Your boots are very warm water 3mm short, and would fit in our large like they do in your Mares fin. With thicker boots, the XL is the fin you need and if doing any cold water with 5 , 6,7 mm boots the large Eddy would be too snug

Thanks, I haven't used them in water yet so as to not void my ability to return them.

I doubt I'll be doing any cold water diving. The coldest will probably be 18-20 degrees celsius.

Do the XLs have larger straps than the Ls? If I need to swap my XLs for Ls, would you provide XL straps with the Ls?

Even if you're diving in warmer waters, it's hard to see how you would get overheated by moving to a thicker boot, if that's what it takes to improve the fit. Try them out with your current boots first though. They might be fine.

you won't void the warranty unless you drag it behind the car to try them in the water. Just saying

Size 11 Nike/ New Balance, size (US)10 in a Doc Martin (since you are British), size Large in an Eddy with a 3mm zip side Mares boot.

If you put the fins on and you can wiggle your feet side to side and as you do the fins flop further side to side then you either need more boot or a smaller fin.

I wear Eddy size XL in wetsuit boots and dry boots. We have the same size feet, size 12US. Try them on in the water, I think you have the right size. Worst case get a chunkier boot.
