Listerine would work with a good long soak.
Vinegar/water 50:50 for 30 minutes is a very good disinfectant, AFTER washing well with soap and water. Probably better than Listerine. That is a standard procedure for respiratory home equipment. Easy to get vinegar.
Washing is necessary to get the mucus and other scuz off first or the disinfectant can't do it's job nearly as well. Don't consider washing 'optional'.
If you are comfortable with it I'd take off the front cover and go after it with a toothbrush when cleaning.
You could even invest in a decent used 2nd stage and swap those out which is easy to do.
For those with their own regs, if you use a semi-clear mouthpiece you will notice after awhile that red (candida) and black (mold) starts to grow around the mouthpiece.
That is happening all over inside the reg unless you are doing an outstanding soap and water rinse followed by disinfecting. So it's not a bad idea to clean things up real nice every few months, I do.
Black mouthpieces just mean you can't see it. Same with the mold growing around the edges of your mask.
