As I am considering the iX3m 2 for my next DC, I have few questions for those who have it already:

- Is it compatible with Subsurface? Interestingly iX3m 2 is NOT in the list of supported devices ( Divecomputers ) yet. Or maybe @dirkhh and his team have forgotten to update the list?
- If it is supported by Subsurface, to what extend?? Do things like gas change events, O2%, ndl/deco readings etc get imported to subsurface?? I have very bad experience with my (crap) divecomputer.eu device. Although it is "supported" by subsurface, only the dive and temperature profiles are downloaded. All the other info (gas change, O2% etc) need to be manually keyed in to Subsurface. In fact after the dive, it seems that such info get lost as they can't be obtained even through the device's logbook function(!).
- Have there been any discussion/suggestions/mentions to/from Ratio about including surfGF to the info shown to the diver during the dive? Knowing this during the dive would be great.

I think that's all for now.
Thanks a lot.

Subsurface is the official log software for Ratio. I have the iX3M Tech+ (version 1 not 2) and that's what I use with it.

I believe that @dirkhh should confirm.

Let Ratio know that they should have this feature added. They are usually receptive to this type of suggestions especially if it comes from more than one person. I will do it.

What is the best way to reach out to Ratio about these things (suggestions)?

I sent them an email this morning at info@ratio-computers.eu asking the questions above (if it is compatible with Subsurface and if so to what extend, if they plan to show surfGF any time soon and asking about the availability of the transmitter).
Haven't got a reply as yet.

Thanks. Send them an email as well.

I just got a reply from Ratio yesterday. Here is more or less what they said:
- About subsurface: iX3M 2 pro is fully compatible with Subsurface (he promised to send me soon a sample dive so that I can see the amount of data imported to Subsurface but haven't yet). The list in Subsurface's website seems outdated.
- About transmitters he confirmed that they are being produced now and should be available in the market "in a couple of weeks"
- About surfGF his answer was more interesting. In short they are considering it, but they are not sure (yet) for its' usefulness and also they are worried that showing surfGF to the divers might push them too close to the limit, hence they hesitate implementing it. They are still discussing about it and if they decide to implement it, it will be available through a software update.

Before I had SurfGF I did a version of an adaptive SS for no stop dives that were close to the NDL and I arbitrarily padded my deco stop after a light deco dive. With SurfGF there is no more guessing, I haven't surfaced with a GF higher than the low 80s since I bought my Teric in 2019. I believe that SurfGF has enhanced my safety rather than detracted from it.

That is excellent! Thank you for taking the lead on this.

I am preparing a list of questions and suggestions of things to modify/add to their computers and includes the SufGF in addition to following things:

1. Ability to change the sensitivity of the compass reaction time

2. Showing the current GF % during the dive.

3. Custom GF in ALL versions of their iX3M computers (I doubt that they would accept it).

4. Ability to switch between "Recreational Mode" and "Technical Mode" to shield the recreational user from the more advanced features used by the technical divers. (I believe that SW has something similar)

5. Some other ideas I have so the list isn't complete.

I believe that it will be most helpful if others send the same requests to Ratio to show that there is popular support for these features.

If anyone here has more ideas of what to request from them, please put it here so that I can include it in my email discussions with them.

Good that they are considering it, but I have trouble with the logic. They aren't sure if they will include it because they fear that divers will push close to the 100%? By that logic, let's just remove the NDL and Ascent rate indicators. After all, divers might use those to see how close they can get to the limit, too. Makes no sense to me.

The benefit of having SurfGF is to be able to make decisions based on personal thresholds. That could mean extending a safety stop to get the SurfGF down a bit, or it could mean shortening the Safety Stop to deal with another issue because your SurfGF is low enough where there shouldn't be any issues.

Great point IMO. I will include your point of view in my email if you don't mind please.
