Caveat: Sundays are normally crowded in the Springs when it's this hot. The slight drizzle made sure it was very uncrowded. It's amazing how a little water can stop people from getting wet. :D

Double caveat: there was a fine fog over the spring today. When I surfaced I first thought I was having a vision issue. Looking about six feet above the water and the fog is no more. It was simply beautiful, and now my hair is so soft! :D :D :D

I finally got wet today. Yes, I've been cleared for over a month, but I've had concerns.
Alone? It would have been safe with a couple of strong buddies capable of lifting you out if needed.
The chill from the spring water after having lost almost 60 pounds since Christmas!
Don't you have a wetsuit collection?

Whatever, congratulations on the progress and achievement. 🏊‍♂️🎖️

There were a few peeps at the springs. I was pretty certain that I could 'get out'. My fears were out of touch with reality. I needed to get wet.

I used to. They have all degraded to being useless and were discarded years ago. They don't last forever and especially if they don't ever get wet. I'm certainly fine at this weight. We'll see if I still am after I lose the next 60 pounds.

Hmm, my 3, 5, and 7 haven't been wet in years. I'll have to check.

Don't miss the last edited part...

Today started out well with another trip to Itche. A bit earlier and it was definitely an improvement over yesterday. A full lap of the crawl, until my shorts came down. I pulled them back up and soldiered on, finishing the lap despite the ignomy. I was the only one in the spring, so no eye-balls were injured.

But then I had a pulmonologist appointment this afternoon, and that took the wind right out of my sails, so to speak.

He asked me if I was still on Eliquis, and I said I had a few days left. No, no, no. You need to be on that for six months minimum and not just three. Crap. He then showed me the CT scan of my pulmonary embolism, aka clots in the lungs. He also showed me the follow up right after the procedure and it was much better, but there were still clots. Are mine gone now? We don't know. We need more testing. Sure. When? Soon! I asked about diving and he said "Sure, but no deep-sea diving". My next question was "What does that even mean? Are you a diver?" He didn't know and "no" were the answers to those queries. Sigh. "How about an extra atmosphere, like 33 ft?" "Sure." How about 2 extra atmospheres, like 66 ft?" "Is that considered deep to you?" "Not really." "Then sure." "Is there a diving pulmonologist that we can talk to about this? I mean, it sounds a bit like you're guessing." "Just no deep-sea diving!" Incredibly frustrating for someone whose life is in his hands. Sigh times a billion. Yes, he's open to talking to DAN after the scan. I'm open to talking to them tomorrow. I was hoping to dive this weekend. ARRRRGH!!!

Where's the effing rum???

Getting back to diving has been the entire impetus of my healing process. I'm not trying to be overly dramatic, but dayum, this was just so counterproductive to me.

Sorry Pete, have you ever discussed your case with DAN regarding the PE(s) and return to diving? Why did you think your Eliquis duration was finished vs. what you heard today?

Nope. That will change in the am.

Because that's what all the other docs have been telling me, including my hematologist at our last appt. I see her again next Wednesday. These clots are actually in the veins, not the lungs. Well, one doc said two months, and she said three "to be sure".

Her reasoning was that these were provoked, and not just arbitrary. Mind you, I had a cath 2 (3?) years ago, which showed no clots/embolisms or a need for any stents. The doctor was pretty happy with how clear everything was declaring I had the heart of a 40-year old. To which I replied that he wasn't getting it back! Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck. That was prompted by my GP hearing a slight murmur. They tested me for blockage in my leg veins via ultrasound and also tested me for PFO. I paid for a few months of his Porche.
