What do you mean by a "certified ice dive"?

It means, not just jump into "on the rock" iced water.

Like you did, the overhead environment and right equipments should be followed...

Am I right, Scott?

Edit: Is there any other place to go for the ice diving nearby Indy? I would like to know a back up place. This winter has been reltatively warmer than last winter.
 
As you can see from the photo above, the ice varies here in SW MI. 2005 found a good three inches of clear ice. 2006 had about two inches of "soft" ice, and this year the lakes are still clear. We usually can plan on thick ice by the Super Bowl and lasting through most of February. I will post an ice report if anyone is interested.
