sounds like fun, but me and my 6.5mm wet suit are too chicken!!!!!!!!!
 
One dive in a wet suit is not too bad to do as long as you can stay warm dressing and undressing. As far as staying warm in the water, try long underwear or fleece under your wet suit, then flood your suit with warm water before you enter the water. It will work in a pinch until you move into a dry suit.
 
believe me....I love the dry suit diving....my budget (and wife) do not!
