If I help you test out the webinar, do I get a reg to pratice on ? :D
I called it first so I got "dibs" on a practice reg :-D

One of the prereqs of the class is to own a HOG reg....so it would hold true for a Beta tester ;)

Great try as always DB :rofl3:

Ahem..... I do believe I called first on being a volunteer! :mooner:

Please refer to TOP of the previous page! (damn this thread is moving fast!)

Now about my reg set to work on.....................

Dang! ... thought I was on to something :D

BB1 .. I know, but I was first to mention anything aboot a free reg :)

Heck I reckon we should both get reg's so we can test the webinar
on 2 continents and different time zones! ;)

What you reckon?

Ding! Ding! Ding! ... WINNER !!!
:D

( ... yanno, it's alright Mike if you want to have off topic posts deleated)

I would love the Webinar, but I am also interested in traveling regionally, too. Just didn't want you guys to forget us willing to travel a shorter distance for the course ;) NY might be a good place to hold it, since it is a fairly central area for the region. I wouldn't complain if you held it in Baltimore either :D

I just am not a fan of the fact that it's being expected as mandatory.

dude, what are you talking about? mandatory????!!!! You may be overthinking this a little bit.

I sell the regulators to dealers, I also sell them parts. When they buy a product from me I no longer own it. They can then do whatever the heck they want with it.

I have told my dealers and asked them to post the following statement regarding EDGE and HOG "parts" and training and availability.

"EDGE/HOG highly recommends that non qualified individuals seek professional training/mentoring before attempting repairs or servicing on EDGE/HOG products. EDGE/HOG dealers are also able to perform all warranty, repair and service work on your EDGE/HOG product. EDGE/HOG recommends that divers who participate in more advanced technical and exploration type diving, be trained in equipment service and has made Service Clinics available thru the participating EDGE/HOG dealers."

Now reading that again for the first time in a few months I certainly do not see where anything mandatory is said at all.

You all are over thinking this.;)

as much as I was really looking forward to trying HOG gear, Dive rite is looking a lot better right now since they include their manuals free of charge on their website

I don't understand what the problem is, put the same CYA clause on the first couple pages of the manual just like they do.

Hmmm...

Enjoy the Dive Rite regs

Nobody is hiding anything here. The manuals aren't even finalized yet. Steven from Dive Right In has been doing his for the class and I've been working with the factory to make a manual that is specific to EDGE/HOG, not generalized.

And if you did have to tear into your reg for some reason and it seems like you know what you are doing all it takes is an email. Was all I had to do to verify how to adjust the IP when I got mine if they needed it since I bought seperate components during the sale without hoses. Fortunately they did not require it but if they had I have the tools and gauges to do it. I hope a clinic comes close to me or the webinar. Either way as long as I can get the kits I'm confident I can do what needs done until then. I am a factory tech for another line and have the manuals and access to kits for some other regs I own. Until the manuals become available with the Reg Savvy book and Oxyhacker manuals I have, paying attention to details and remembering what goes where is fine with me for now. Planning on getting both regs in the water friday.

The fact that Chris is even making available what he is is way better than what anyone else(save DR) is doing with their policies and why as soon as it is financially good for me to do I'll be going exclusively HOG/Edge. Right now I still have kits for another year for my other brands. When those are gone if I have to jump thru hoops to get new ones I'll just say screw em and ebay em or sell em here. As good as they are and have been to me it makes no sense to be prohibited from servicing my own by not making kits available to me except thru a dealer under the table. I'm getting crotchety since I turned 50 and since the other drastic changes in my life and I will not take crap any more from anyone. Including equipment manufacturers. It's my life. I'll take responsibility for it thank you very much. Sorry, not a good day today.

But in all seriousness HOG/Edge and their policies are how all manufacturers should be. Thanks Chris, and thanks for being a good friend as well.

Well said Mike, at the end of the day, its your ass buddy.

We don't do webinars in the traditional sense but we record video manuals for the custom software we write.

I'm still fuzzy on the whole online thing. IMO, which may or may not count you need someone to inspect and watch your work during the class. Maybe its good enough watching a video that has how and how not to do stuff.

That was my concern as well. I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue for some people, but for others (admission: like me), it might be.

Which is exactly why it is being tossed around as a possibility. Not sure it's the best idea, but it is at least better than just giving out a manual and small CYA (which holds up to nothing in court). It gives us a little more liability control and "teaching" of a course....or so we think:popcorn:

Have you considered (not right away, obviously....but sometime after the HOG regs have become more prevalent) training people in different regions to train people in their own local region? For example, if someone from socal (say, a reg technician or dive shop owner who is a HOG dealer) were to come to you to get training so that they could offer the same training locally...

Any chance that could work out (in the future, of course)? I really like the idea of working on my own regs....but I also know it would be nice to have someone actually standing over my shoulder able and willing to offer help as needed.
