Hog D1 Regulator Repair Class

Have you considered (not right away, obviously....but sometime after the HOG regs have become more prevalent) training people in different regions to train people in their own local region? For example, if someone from socal (say, a reg technician or dive shop owner who is a HOG dealer) were to come to you to get training so that they could offer the same training locally...

Any chance that could work out (in the future, of course)? I really like the idea of working on my own regs....but I also know it would be nice to have someone actually standing over my shoulder able and willing to offer help as needed.

That was open to anyone at the last DEMA. There were only a handful that chose to take the class....of those, you only see us currently attempting to teach/taught this course. Anyone who would want to be an Instructor, would have to take the class from HOG, or another IT with the qualifications. Our Instructor, can NOT train Instructors...he can only train techs.

Would there be any difference between a class focussed on regulator maintenance and regulator repair? I am asking because I had the thought that perhaps it would be easier to do webinars on maintenance (that more people could access and do) while limiting the technician course to those who travel to a few regional courses or just to your shop.

I have never service regulators, so I don't know the complexities enough the answer that for myself. However, after I buy my regs I wouldn't mind sending them in for major service while just maintaining them myself. It would help lower costs for the owners then and help sell even more regs. You seem open to suggestions, so I thought I would throw another one out there

dude, what are you talking about? mandatory????!!!! You may be overthinking this a little bit.

I sell the regulators to dealers, I also sell them parts. When they buy a product from me I no longer own it. They can then do whatever the heck they want with it.

I have told my dealers and asked them to post the following statement regarding EDGE and HOG "parts" and training and availability.

"EDGE/HOG highly recommends that non qualified individuals seek professional training/mentoring before attempting repairs or servicing on EDGE/HOG products. EDGE/HOG dealers are also able to perform all warranty, repair and service work on your EDGE/HOG product. EDGE/HOG recommends that divers who participate in more advanced technical and exploration type diving, be trained in equipment service and has made Service Clinics available thru the participating EDGE/HOG dealers."

Now reading that again for the first time in a few months I certainly do not see where anything mandatory is said at all.

Well I just bought hog 1st and 2nd set up for doubles, and I found someone to sell me the service kits for each as well. I hope these regs are as good as they've looked on paper


When it comes time to use these service kits hopefully it will be easier to get info lol.

I need to buy me another D1 Cold and 2nd stage and 5th port conversion kit soon. Tired of switching between double and single setup and moving hoses around.
