I took his class and highly recommend it if you want a really in depth () understanding of how regs work as well as the practical stuff. The typical one day manufacturers' course is focused on safely following their service manual rather than understanding why you are doing anything.

Also the service manuals that @rsingler wrote are simply the best that are currently available for any regulator. IMO, it's worth reading over one of them for any tech or even non-techs who are interested in regs. There's a bunch of stuff from proper cleaning to servicing hoses to tips on tuning barrel second stages that are not found elsewhere.

BTW, don't forget the Deep 6 Excursion. If you don't need the swivel or 5th (down facing) LP port, it will save you some weight, size and $140 for the standalone stage (OK, really $100 over the long term since the Signature price includes the first service).
I’ve looked over the D6 service documentation, it’s nice and through.

I want to take @rsingler’s class down the road. For regs, Scubapro’s G260/MK19 is and D6 Signatures are on that short list when that time rolls around.

@LandonL tell me about the deep six class. Where is it taught and how much?

Also, any word on the out of stock hoses? Looks like several longer sizes are out of stock with no option to back order. Long lead time?

If you go to the find instructor site on the TDI website (Search - International Training - SDI | TDI | ERDI | PFI) you can select the Deep Six or Edge/Hog Equipment Service Clinic Course and find an instructor that teaches these courses near you, or in the region of the world that you select. You can do this for any SDI/TDI course, and it should show you all currently active instructors teaching those courses.

I did the Hog version of the course. I had some theory to go through, a written exam, and then the instructor guided me through servicing my Hog regulators.

The class we offer at Deep6 consists of about 12-16 hours of work, and covers topics such as workbench setup, tool handling, regulator mechanical theory, self service for our first and second stages, and troubleshooting. Oxygen cleaning procedures can be added as an additional component. Part of the required reading consists of outside resources. The course is designed to take someone with little to no experience and give them the knowledge and confidence to service and maintain their own regulators. There is a written exam at the end of the course to assess knowledge, and once passed, a certification can be issued.

As a bonus for current certificate holders, we have a 'parts-for-life' sort of program. If you have a current personal technician certification, you qualify for free service kits for your personally owned Signature regulators that were purchased from us, at the 2 year, or 200 dive interval, whichever comes first. We offer this benefit to encourage end users to get appropriate training if they choose to explore this path. Base course cost is $350.

Typically the course gets divided up over a few days in a modular process. The class can be offered in-person, or remote, depending on need. Often we can do a blended course with some students remote, some local. I have also done shorter courses, but that requires more hours per day. So it really depends on class/student dynamics.

This is a true training course, and significantly different than many of the other service courses out there, including the ones typically provided at DEMA by various brands. Our goal here is to provide a solid basis of knowledge and skill. We assume no prior knowledge other than basic non-specific tool handling and identification.

I have been working on the website and inventory system lately. I believe we have all hoses in stock, but if we don't there is never more than a couple of days lead time on restocking standard ones. The orange can vary, and those are a custom color so do take a little time.

We typically don't do back orders, just to simplify the checkout process. We can do preorders sometimes for specific needs so it gets queued.

Another Deep6 fan here. What people said in this thread is true - Deep6 offers unbelievable value for the money and exceptional performance. I love Deep6 gear I've purchased so far and will continue being their customer. Also, all aspects about customer service are spot on, so thank you, Deep6.

@LandonL - when are you going to offer classes and where? I took a reg class from Robert, but would not mind diving deeper into Deep6 and servicing my regs as a part of the class.

@mr_v Have one coming up this month, it's a hybrid class with a mix of online and in-person. Sending DM now.
