Wow... watch it again and watch the stern of the ship sink slowly until the stern was all that was left poking up and all then the stern just 'dropped out' into the water...

it leave a pretty big wave the stern went down so fast.

I hate to say it but if you watch to end, with all the bubbles coming up, you can see one of the dishes break the surface, presumably it came off from the force.

Just got a text message on my phone from an old patient of mine (they all know I dive) said he watched the sinking on the news and thought of me

It looks to me like both dishes broke off and floated for a bit just before the stern went under. The larger dish was definitely sitting on the surface for quite some time after the rest of the ship went under.
