Didn't Milton form in the Bay of Campeche? The disturbance is forming off Panama's north coast.

The weather system that eventually became Milton was first identified in the NHC GWTO in the same area (the graphic then looked a lot like the one posted above):

NHC GWTO archive from Sep 26

Nothing much came of it as it moved northwest, until it crossed the Yucatan peninsula and started iteracting with a couple of other weather systems and turned into what it did in the Bay of Campeche

We've had three hit Florida already. It's someone else's turn.

What became Helene started in that same place as well.

Yes, Milton did form in the Bay of Campeche, and in 1998, Hurricane Mitch (Cat 5 that destroyed Honduras) formed off Panama's north coast.

I agree, we are due for the next one in Galveston. God bless Florida and Texas...we both will survive.

Hurricanes rarely affect the weather here in Austin, but I have close friends on Cozumel and in Houston and I have family in south Louisiana, so I watch the NHC maps very closely between May and November.

Two Atlantic disturbances are being watched, but both are considered to have a 30% chance of formation in the next week...

In the last couple of days both have been dialed back in probability of development into tropical cyclones. That's good news for everyone.
