Wow what was this guy diving? Was everybody on the boat diving the same kind of rig as him? 80lbs of lift that is insane

I only use 50 and carry double steal tanks, stages, and camera gear.

I would of liked to of been there.

Either get educated enough to go back and hammer this guy or get over it and go dive with someone else.

By the way daedalusx it's a well written story even if it isn't your native language. I've seen native english speakers who cannot write as well as you did. Well done! :D

I cheated, I used MS Office 2k3 spell checker :D
And rewrote it couple of times for paragraph and stuff.

You took the time and made the effort to get your story to the point where it was easy to read--that scores major points with me :D

And trolls don't usually put that much effort into their posts! :D

It's probably the only place in the world where divers are soooo superiors that we need 2 certification to dive (OW cert AND a government issued certification)

Hi there and welcome to SB! As an Ontarian, I'm really curious about your second cert. This is the first time I've heard about this! Is it issued provincially? Is it for specific sites in Quebec? Any details would be much appreciated.

Hi I am out of Montreal, if you need the names of a few good charter operators just pm me. True but sad that there are very few knowlegable LDS's in Montreal.

In fact I get most of my gear out of tech shops in Ontario.

Believe it or not, we do have "Scuba Police" in Quebec. Only in France & Quebec do you need an additional permit to dive other then your C-Card. It is run by the FQAS (Fédération québécoise des activités subaquatiques). Their authority is somewhat vague since it is not a gov't organization but I believe (i could be wrong) they can hand out fines ranging from $200-$5000.

It's explained very well here: http://www.fqas.qc.ca/
But the english section does not work.

Anyway to dive anywhere IN quebec you need a Quebec issued card.
When I did my PADI OW I had to do 1 written exam to get that cert.
I think you can get a temporary FQAS card if you made the demand, but I think it'll cost you 30$. You can't just arrive in charter dive in Quebec without that card and get one, you have to fills some forms, etc. LDS could help you.

But technicly you could dive with friends there and no scuba police enforce that. But some LDS might ask for your card for fills.

So that's pretty vague.
