I am sold on the bag drag. Fly direct to CUN, walk out to the ADO. Watch a movie dubbed in spanish. 10 minutes walk with my backpack ...
There's the rub, innit? Traveling with my wife and mom with 50# bags and carry ons, I'll be flying into Cozumel. :D

I manage 3 x 50 lb plus carry-ons without any issues. That's what the bike porters are for ;) Where possible, we fly nonstop into CZM from YYZ but, for more than half the year, that's just not possible.

Was speaking with some friends, locals there and they did their best. It is a very wealthy family. They are also sad because they are losing a beach many on the island go to. There were very few ships last week and it was wonderful, nostalgic actually.

There are legal challenges at this moment as to the validity of the studies done that said the area was just sand and thus granted permits to build. What they did was hid the fact that there was a reef system there. Lots of people are against this including the hotels, businesses, dive businesses, local residents.....4th Pier Authorization under REVIEW Federal laws protects coral and the Villablanca area has 20 species including 2 endangered. Unless a lot of palms get greased by Molinas and Royal Carribean, this is gonna be ongoing.
