Wow, you got a first mate. How many were in your group/ on your boat!

There were 12. Two (Blue Angle) DMs and a Captain and First Mate. This was not a B.A.D.A.S.S. boat, it was hired (?) to handle our group due to transmission issues (?) with their big boat.

I have, not always, but often enough had a captain and deck hand or mate plus DM, so I cannot agree with some who say never.

I don't say no ops and never, but on the BA small boats when I have gone diving on them the only times I can remember when there has been a third non-customer aboard it was either a DM in training or a private DM hired by a customer. The No Problem (the larger boat) usually has a captain, a mate, and at least two DMs.

We saw very few lionfish on the reef, and know they are going deep ...
It is the same in Florida. All the lionfish are now only in the 100 foot and deeper to find any quantities.
Thanks for the detailed Coz report Chris !!

Also should mention (off topic a bit) that La Perlita didn't have any lionfish when we went, and it wasn't a sold out issue. We saw very few lionfish on the reef, and know they are going deep so guess the supply just isn't there like it was. Other places advertised it but I was keeping my powder dry for the coconut crusted version with mango sauce....
Some people are never satisfied. First we complain about the lionfish coming to Cozumel and then we complain because we can't find any.

If they came fried in coconut on the reef, I would not have complained :P
La Perlita is the first place I found lionfish on the menu. It was their coconut lionfish and to this day I have not found better (or as good) pez leon anywhere. If they are still serving double lionfish on Thursdays, you'd better get there early. I'm drooling on my keyboard... :D

We showed up about 6:30, so not too late, and no one there, as we didn't want to be sold out. The manager (?) said they didn't have lionfish as we asked right when we got out of the cab, and considered going somewhere else, but stayed. He said they were not getting as much lionfish as they used to

I have been there a couple of times when they were out of lionfish. I was able to feed myself quite well in spite of it. :D

How was La Perlita? We usually love it, but last time we were down there the food was not as good as years past. Hoping this was just one bad day.

When they don't have lionfish we like the Paella and the Seafood Stuffed Fish Filet.
