"I recall the shore dives not being worth the price of the compressed air when I dived there 20 years ago"

Everyone has a different opinion about that & I won't argue it but then again it's the same shore dive SCC guests have been enjoying for years. If they liked it there they'll like it at Hotel Cozumel. This is a bit old now but it relates to what I've seen over the years on my single gear check out dive done at the beginning of each trip. Shore dives at Hotel Cozumel.

The bars are great. Most of the bartenders have been there for years.

We treat the shore dives more as a gear/weight/camera check dive when we first arrive, then a night dive for a nocturnal critter check. We always enjoyed the shore dive at Scuba Club, even though it was mostly rubble. Expect nothing then we're always pleasantly surprised!

From what I understand there's no shore diving allowed at all from Occidental/Allegro. :(

All the southern AI resorts are inside the marine park.

As I understand things you can shore dive withing the Park but you MUST have a guide that has been approved by the Park Authority. Most divers wouldn't find it much of a bargain having to hire a guide.

We love the shore dives. Clear warm water, no concerns over NDL or staying with a group, no time limits, lots of small fishes, cheap, easy, and time efficient.

Exactly. No diving without a guide and marine park bracelets. That just isn't worth it over a boat dive for most people.
