    Question about Cozumel Palace

Cozumel Palace is wonderful. The on-site Dive Op, Aqua Safari, is not. I usually use other dive operations but periodically I use resort credits for an extra day of diving with Aqua Safari; I always end up regretting it. The DM's are great but the other divers tend to be very inexperienced...

    Aquaworld Opinions

I stay at the Palace frequently and have used AquaWorld for "free credit" dives on occasion. My input: - NO NITROX availability. This is a huge downside given the depths in Cozumel - On average, the divers tend to be less experienced. - Big, slow boats with 20+ divers. But despite the...

    Dive Condition Reports

Viz below 60' at Wentz has been outstanding for the last few weeks. It's definitely 5 mil territory but well worth it.

    Bob Wentz issues

My experience in well over 100 diving excursions at Mansfield and Wentz is that the park rangers are helpful and friendly. Also, several of them are former dive instructors and/or cave divers, so they will frequently strike up a conversation (including the one mentioned in the OP)...

    Buddy Dive - bad attitude?

I'm very surprised by the OP comments. I spent a week at Buddy Dive in early February of this year. Everyone in my group had positive experiences with the dive operation. - No issues asking for and receiving 20+ weight - No issues taking 4 tanks each at the drive-thru fill station even...

    Dive Condition Reports

Bob Wentz, Aug 28 There is some great diving to be had in Lake Travis right now. Down below 70 ft, the visibility is quite clear (> 20 ft) albeit dark. Four of us were diving yesterday and I could see everyone at once. Water temperature is very comfortable at that depth in a shorty...

    Dive Condition Reports

Sun July 31, 2011 Bob Wentz LCRA Park (Windy Point Public) Visibility was generally best in the 50 - 70 ft depth range. Usually around 15' but it would frequently drop down to 3' (highly variable) Temperature: 87 degrees at the surface 70 degrees at 93 ft. there are now at least 4 grottos...

    Dive Condition Reports

Yeah, Cavemn, that's quite a marker you set up for the swim through. I won't spoil the fun by saying here what it is, but I got a laugh out of it. Visibility today and Saturday at Bob Wentz has been outstanding between 40 - 70 feet. Usually > 10'.

    Dive Condition Reports

Lake Travis, Windy Point private, Feb 20 Temp: 53-54F Viz: 7' at 50' depth, 2-5' at <25' depth. Quite a bit better than what I saw at Mansfield Dam a couple weeks ago. Richard has warm water in the showers if you want to pre-charge your wetsuit. Sure wish I had done that...

    Lionfish as Prey?

I've also seen >10 instances in which a large grouper would swallow a wounded/dead lion fish whole. In at least one case, I can say with certainty that the grouper did not die in the first 60 minutes after swallowing the lion fish-- because he followed us around for the rest of the dive waiting...

Condo rental w/ beach access recommendations.

I've stayed at 4 separate places in El Cantil-- all of them have been wonderful. Staff is super helpful and walking distance to the Mega is a huge convenience. Pool and beach area is never crowded. In short... we love it.

Mules needed from USA - Coz Red Cross

Sorry if this is a stupid question-- but why can't you just UPS all the material directly to Cozumel? Is it a red-tape issue? cost? customs?

Worth it to get AOW before going to Cozumel?

Looking through my dive log, all of my first dives of the day have exceeded 60' depth, so technically speaking you would need an AOW card. Practically speaking, I doubt any of the dive shops would prevent you from diving without an AOW card but you never know. Personally, I would suggest you...

    Cozumel Spring Break

Thanks everyone for your input! I guess there is always a small chance of an experience like DTm's but, overall, I like the odds. DTm: I'd like to help you get past this bad experience. So I'm inviting you to join us Cozumel March 14-21. We will get the room next to you and if your other...

    Cozumel Spring Break

I'm planning a trip to Cozumel with my family for our spring break (March 14-21). Any recommendations for a hotel/resort which is relatively free from the typical Spring Break Late-night party scene? Our default plan is Cozumel Palace since we like to walk to town.

    Favorite Restaurants

Sabores is my favorite. You walk through their house and eat in their back yard. Hibiscus ice-tea and mole chicken. Mmm. Other favorites: El Foco, Gatitos, Las Palmas
