Has anyone a picture of this Terec compass feature?

That's brilliant!

While I don't really use the digital compass on my Perdix AI, I do think this is a cool feature. If I ever get a Teric, I would certainly turn it on. As @Joneill has shown you can do something a bit similar on the Perdix, but it's not really the same. You have to give up one of your custom display cells and I don't want to do that. But having the floating icons along the edge of the round display is really a super idea!

And then there’s the Nerd's compass. In front of your eye, so easy to use. Amazing how you swim to the left in crap visibility!

The Nerd is at the bottom of your eyeline, like reading a book and looking up to the TV.

How critical is AI for you?

For your needs, sounds like a Peregrine + Suunto SK8 wrist compass would be a more appropriate choice. Seems like you’re buying a lot of computer for recreational dives.

You can combine up to 3 items in a mini display in one slot to avoid losing displayed data when using the compass needle in the other slot - but then that data is smaller/ harder to read… so a definite tradeoff on the Perdix vs the Teric! That’s why I wear both!

AI is not critical for me, but may be nice to use some day. Peregrine is not an option for me, as my main reasons for upgrade are the digital compass and the "visible at night without having to push a button" display.

As a bit of additional background, my first real thoughts of upgrading computers came after solo night diving at Blue Heron Bridge. Between towing a flag, holding a light, navigating with my manual compass, and trying to see my Puck computer, it seemed like it would be good to simplify a couple of those items with a new computer -- especially since it would be nice to be able to take a few pictures also. Since my best dive buddy is going to go off to college later this year, I'll be doing more solo diving, hence the urge to upgrade soon.
