The point of the ostrich fable is that it hides its head in the sand and thereby remains oblivious to everything around it while remaining completely exposed and vulnerable. Somehow from context I suspect that's not what you meant. :D
 
I think the study was trying to show that airplanes are much safer than many think. Even though quite a few people were contagious and even though this preceded any mitigation efforts (no masks, no sanitizers, no temp checks, no social distancing awareness) only two people were possibly infected. And there's no way to know they were not infected shortly before or after the flight.
