IMO, the knowledge side of GUE courses is secondary to the hands on skills.

If you want to get a "leg up" on the courses, find some local GUE divers to go dive with. Mentorship would go a lot further than reading the course notes.

I saw a used set being sold by Leah Remini.

:rofl3:

I was looking st the list of GUE Literature and was wondering, is there a certain book for rec 1,2,3 fundamentals, and tech 1,2,3, etc? Or do books cover multiple classes?

I ask because I would like to purchase the books for rec 1,2,3 and fundamentals just to read on my own so that I can get a head start on the knowledge side of things.

I have yet to see any printed documentation from GUE. All of my class material has been in digital format, which I downloaded fro the GUE website. You retain access to these materials for quite some time, after you have completed the course. Register for the course, download and read the material before your class begins. It's the best thing you can do.

Do you know when GUE released this? I have t gone through several courses and everything has been digital. Took Fundamentals in 2012 and was never present with paperback material. Was always directed to the download section of the website, after you had created an account and confirmed enrollment in a specific course.

Honestly, digital material is the better method. You don't need to carry books and you might get the updated literature, if your course coincides with a revision update release.

I bought a copy in like 2002, though it was a decade before I took a course. It’s pretty much due for an overhaul, as things have changed a bit. The critical core of GUE is the SOPs and the skills and mindset presented in fundamentals. You’ll use those forever.

I gave my copy away some years ago. What’s different now than what’s in the book?

When you register for a course, there is a usually missed option to have a copy of printed course material. When I did my T1, one of our teammates had it and we were all dumbfounded that there was and option for something printed!
