* Parth hailed for being world's youngest scuba driver

Panaji, Mar 12 (PTI) A delegation from Liberia had visited Mumbai-based ten-year-old Parth Sanghvi to congratulate him on becoming the world's youngest scuba diver.

"The delegation which included son of the President of Liberia, Robert A Sirleaf spent considerable time with Parth at our home in Mumbai last week," Mehul Shanghvi, Parth's father told PTI today.

Mehul said the delegation visited Parth after reading a story about his achievement in a newspaper. He became world's youngest scuba diver after he dived 40 feet underwater near Grande Island in Goa last month, breaking the earlier world record of Egypt's Natasha Turner.

The other members of the delegation included Senior Advisor to President's Special Envoy of the Liberian Republic and Deputy Minister of External Affairs Sylvester M Grigsby.

Grigsby had encouraging words for Parth and wished he would go on to become the best deep sea scuba diver in the world.

I guess they have not heard of PADI in India?????

This is not accurate--! Is this why the post? Because of the accuracy- being incorrect?
I know of a younger diver. She was in the class w/me @ the Ocean during the Certify. I would imagine she was telling her true age.. 9 and her brother was 11--
So ya all making a stab at the ridiculous report? OR what :)

Wow --my daughter was 10 when she became certified and 11 when she got her AOW. Why didn't Bush and Cheney come to visit me?

I let my daughter swim underwater breathing off my pony bottle while I held it when she was 6. Maybe Charles Taylor could come visit us. I could invite some friends over to be barbecued.

No one should let a 6 year old or any uncertified diver go underwater and breath off a pony bottle. You can do series injury even in shallow water particularly a young child who does not understand they cannot hold their breath.

If you really did this IMHO you made a huge error in judgment.

Considering she was about 1' deep and I was standing beside her holding the bottle, I wasn't particularly worried. One foot of salt water adds less than 0.5 PSI while normal atmospheric pressure is close to 15 PSI.

I'm far more concerned when she gets on a bike or we go out snorkeling as I'd estimate the risk of serious injury to be many times higher.

Just don't let em bring their bird guns... That would be dangerous.
