What it basically boils down to is ......When it comes to dives that are more serious in nature then the buddy pool narrows to the people I know and trust (DIR trained or not).

Yes, I agree with you concerning Diver Discretion when it comes to dives that are serious in nature.........

Recreational diving within NDL, is a lot of FUN. Going into technical, commercial, work, or closed environment, public safety, search and rescue, search and recovery diving is a serious sport or occupation. Totally different than my normal diving experiences.

My comments are based on this board to only reflect my Fun Recreational Diving LIFE.

Yes I did take Hue's comments offensively about that special Lake Travis Grotto area that is really cool to dive within my NDL diving. I have been cavern diving all over Florida and it is FUN. No Cave penetrations yet, because I don't have a cave to train at near by. But who knows, maybe one of these days. Opportunity and money.

I like it when divers Unite for a good cause. In a lot of ways everyone is talking about what they enjoy to do in diving and that's what's its all about. We have a lot of diving, training and education available to us in the USA. :D

Guys, you might want to put things into perspective. I met a guy from Texas once. He went on about how great the state is and how much it sucked in OR. Every other line from him was about how they did it in Texas. He was a complete prick, so I guess everyone from Texas must be a prick, following the thinking I'm seeing in this thread.

As it turns out, the guy wasn't born in Texas. in fact, he only lived there for a short while. He wasn't really a Texan, I guess you could say.

DIR attracts a lot of wannabes and there are a lot of posers. Just because someone says they are DIR and have a BP/W and a long hose doesn't mean they are DIR. Anyone who claims color is a DIR issue is FOS and should be disregarded.

FWIW, I'm an OWI and that pretty much axes me as being DIR. I dive solo, but acknowledge the fact that this is less than ideal and agree with the DIR stance on solo. I also enjoy a few cigars a week and that would exclude me from being DIR, as well. I've yet to be excluded by DIR divers from any dive within my skill set.

As for fun, there are some that drill a bit excessively, but I can assure you DIR divers have lots of fun. Being in absolute control and in sync with a team opens up an entirely new set of options for diving. That's really what DIR is about to me: options.

Hue by not responding forced me to study this DIR, GUE, BAUE, HUE ect............. thing out there. But no where did a find clear, concise specific information about this interesting read on Holistic approach to diving. I am all about learning and I liked the fact that I am driven to discover what other divers feel is a safe and appropriate plan. A lot of what I read on these DIR related (representative) websites related to 2 individual diving founders as ICONS and the read is even scary if you understand Cults. Might you PM me with the right place to go to understand this GUE/DIR phenomenah?

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

Next time someone wants to use the word NAZI do a search(google) before you post,if you still think you want to post this.We do have a ToS in place, and we will act upon this.

I read HUE's post yesterday before it was yanked. I could see how people could take the cavern dive in lake travis the wrong way, but at that same time many of the same people were questioning the cavern course in lake travis when that was posted and IMHO it was a little hypocritical to turn around and troll him. It would have been more productive to ask for more specific information on what he was wanting rather than assuming (read ASS-U-ME).

Re Ass U Me, you and HUE for that matter ought to check which bright spark it was who ass-u-me'd that any cavern course would be run in Lk Travis. As the OP of that training thread, I know I never once intimated that Travis, or any Tx lake for that matter, would be the venue for cavern training. Bright people all, clearly.

This has been a most entertaining read.

:yelclap:
I agree whole-heartedly. It doesn't matter what you wear as much as your attitude. :369:

Rumbum, you can be on my team any day :jester:

Without re-hashing the thread that you posted about technical training in lake travis, re-read what I typed and ask yourself why you are getting defensive with me about it?

DANG, take off a day to go diving and I miss pages and pages of F.U.N. !!

:( Everyone is over on the DIR sub forum and apologies to HUE.....I feel left out---I want to do that also...BUT I got banned from God's special place last year for being truthful and standing my ground and have not seen a need to ask permission to get back in.... (LOL)....so would one of you express my well wishes to Mr. HUE!! :)

Zinc, after a full week you are surfacing for air.

Where is that D.I.M.W.I.T. manual anyway?

If you read TSD this week, you would see I have asked you 5 times on 3 threads.

But who's counting. :D

BTW....K-Valve owes me big time after today. Busted.
