Well then again, maybe not. He/she was 14" X 11" though. We put him back after the photo. We think it's called a Clumpy Nudibranch. The photo was taken inside a 5 gal plastic bucket on Johnston Atoll. He put up quite a fight.:boom:

Why did you take him/her from the water to begin with? I can't think of a single reason that would explain a necessity to taking it.

Please explain.

Johnston Atoll is a wildlife refuge. This was an unknown species for this refuge. I had no camera with me. We needed to identify and cataloge it before we returned it to its home. That's one reason.:boom:

I didn't think of that one. I hope he wasn't too distressed.

Where exactly is Johnston Atoll?

We care about all the critters above and below the water. Johnston Atoll is about 800 miles South West of Hawaii.

Hey Dee, if you're a Regulator, can you help me change Worls to Worlds in the subject line? I tried to edit it with no luck. Thanks. :boom:

PS. He didn't really put up a fight.

I have only seen one of these on Guam. It was on the American Tanker. It had crawled into a half round mooring ring so it completely filled the hole. It looked just like yours but a little more yellow and was curled head to tail.

I didn't mean to imply you didn't care about the critters or were careless. I just know from have aquariums for years that any small change in their environment or minimal handling can stress them tremendously, some more than others. I was just hoping the nudi was one of those who are tougher than the others.

As for the edit...it's a done deal.

They are all over florida that size, not as pretty and colorful though

The only other sea slugs I've see this big are sea hares in Calif. and they are not pretty
