Hi DiverLady:
I agree about the Single's thread. They may seem a bit over done at times, but I do think we should keep them.
I have always wanted to put a trip together for Singles to meet each other. Maybe someday it will happen.

I'll see what I can do about having the name of this forum changed. I never liked " Women Only," mostly because it's nice to hear what the men have to say about what concerns us.

If you think of any other names, let me know!

I agree with the name change. Women Only is too aggressively 'men, keep out!' What about something very banal like Women & Diving or Diving & Women. If we have something like Women's COncerns or Women's Issues we'll get a whole load of OT stuff. If we have diving in the title, might focus in on what it seems this forum was meant to do at the beginning. I'm not that sold on having a separate forum but I can appreciate that it is a good idea to have all the women's diving issues in one place rather than searching through medical, BC fora etc for issues about menstruation and large chests! Both of which I was interested in finding out about when I first started diving!!

Doesn't seem to stop us though  .

Scuba_jenny - no contest about diving or dishes, my sign-off says it all!! LOL
Housework is for when there is no diving to be done! Okay, I do some housework but I won't be having company over any time soon!! :D

If you're diving, you don't need to have company over. This a woman after my own heart!

Dive on!

I think it is the taboo of going where we are not supposed to be.

I vote for keeping it "Women Only". It obviously doesn't offend the men - it may even attract them - and we can always use their input :D ! It doesn't offend the women - so why not leave it?

When I first found the Board, I thought it was a intruiging topic title and I was drawn to it in a way I would not have been if it had been "Women's Issues" or "Women & Diving".

{Natasha, I agree it is time to retire the "menstruation" issue -- but the "Singles" issue can't be retired - you could make it another forum, however, if you want to move it out of here...}

just my .02 cents :)

Agreed.... I think that the Singles thread might get a lot more attention if it had its own topic.

Also, to be fair to the ladies, there might be more interest from Men if it were in its own topic.

As far as this issue not being relavent to diving, I think that it could not be farther from the truth. How many stories have you heard about someone going diving and not having a buddy, or getting a terrible buddy. What we are talking about here is helping people find dive buddies that happen to be of the opposite sex.

This is a place for people who love diving to congregate. Some of the people who really love diving would love to meet someone who shares that interest (and passion). This in turn would make you more likely to dive, and want to talk about diving, bringing more interesting discussion to this board, which seems to be the point anyway.

a gay and lesbian diver forum while your at it.... ??
black divers forums?

seeing "women only" to me is the same as seeing "whitey's only"

to me it's some kind of bizzare segregation.

I see what you mean about wanting to put periods, boobs and pregnancy issues in a forum where you can find them easily but I just don't like seeing "women only"

Sorry if that sounds wierd. Maybe I am being wayyyy too picky.

I would prefer to see "Men and Diving" and "Women and Diving" forums if you have to seperate out the sexes at all.

But that's just me... :eek:ut:

but I'd like to see a Men's forum. That way, all discussions related to the P-valve could be contained there, and I could avoid them. It just seems so nasty!
