Nice, just the info I was looking for. I would like to mount 2 can lights to 1 3l. What would you think of using two brackets using 1 set of hose clamps. Where do you source them, Kent tooling direct?

@rddvet put sharpie on all of the contact points you can. When you try to engage them and they stick, look where the sharpie was rubbed

cool I’ll try that. Never thought of doing that

You mean put one bracket on either side of the tank using one set of hose clamps to hold them on? I don’t think that would be an issue at all. On the fathom the hose clamps hold the two tank attachments on either side of the unit and the sta use to mount it to your backplate. So that’s more stuff being held than in your scenario.
I buy direct from Kent tooling. They’re very helpful and ship to the US very quickly. Usually 10 days or less.

I'm a somewhat new diver on the XCCR. I have about 50 hours, mostly boat dives on wrecks in the Atlantic but with some time in quarries and shallow reefs and such as well. No caves.

Durable. I know that JJ sells itself as the SUV of CCRs but this thing is a beast.
O2 sensors are on a nice pull out cartridge.
Full featured and ready to dive. A nice ADV, a great BOV, solid MAVs and all the trimmings included. Tanks and first stage regs too, although some might not like that. Nice tank brackets.
Beautiful workmanship. The bayonet head is great and doesn't have any place to trap junk. The scrubber basket has a fantastic spring loaded top. It’s all just so well put together.
Air Integration on the Shearwaters. The head has HP connections and shows the oxy & dil pressures on the handset removing the need for separate pressure gauges plus you get that AI data in the logs.
Better batteries. 18650s on the head. Last a long time and easy to charge and easy to carry spares.
Good support in the US from Subgravity. Easy to get spares and parts.

Weight. It's heavy. Still less than big steel doubles... But heavy. If I could change only one thing this would be it... but then would it be as durable?
No top grab. Strange that the Defender has one and the X doesn’t. Most people in the US (including me) don't have any sort of stand on theirs like the EU guys. I'm not sure I want the extra size on the bottom, but I DO often wish for something to grab on the top of the unit to lift it.
I don’t have the new CE certified OPV on the counterlung, but i don’t think I like it after seeing it on others.

Who knows...
Work of breathing? Not a problem but this is my first rebreather so I don't know what I don't know.
Factory support? Czech Republic is a long way away and shipping is timeconsuming. But if it doesn't have to go back does it matter? Subgravity can do some things in Utah.

On my Meg I have a loop of orange 1" nylon wedding through the top of the STA that is holding the can to my backplate. Could you do something like that? I made mine orange so when I get help hauling it back over the tube of my RIB I can tell my buddy to "grab the orange loop"

I'm two weeks from Mod1 in my JJ, Rona permitting. What did you mean:

?
When it is empty of sorb the bottom part of the scrubber, the flat plastic plate with the three springs, is loose. So if you are travelling it can move a bit and is generally a little bit unsatisfactory. Not a huge deal as the solution is to stuff clothes into the scrubber. But like the business with the head not really standing up on its own (I usually put it don with on a large plastic bag on the floor of my cabin) to dry it could be a bit better.

The unit is excellent. So we are reduced to minor things to complain about :)

Thanks!
Any value in thinking about a strip of rubber/plastic window seal that has a knife edge, that I can tuck down in the gap between the head and the can, to collect sand before it drops down the crack above the first head o-ring?
Yeah, I'm thinking about the cover, but this seems to be a quick solution to use before I rinse the top of the can before removing the head.

Might work, but extra nuisance. Rinsing the top of the can doesn't really help if a lot of silt, rust flakes, stone chips etc. has already found it's way into the groove.
Sometimes you just have to pull the head out with some force and hear the scratching sound. Very annoying, but somewhat surprisingly the head o-rings or anything related isn't really a reliability issue with JJs. I'd like to have a different design, but it works as it is.

I find that that it all depends on how much rubbish is in the water, and I don’t think I am smacking into things so I would not expect the cover to really help. Maybe some other drain hole would be a help.

Well, a disposable seal like that glazier's seal, or cotton string that the caulkers used to use seems like it might be a good idea. But with zero experience in the unit, I'm just blowing smoke right now. Lots of floaty sand in my water, so I'm intent on finding a solution. I'd like to be able to flush most away without pushing it down the crack, and then pull my little seal out to take the rest with it before I endure that screech of the sand trapped above the top oring.

Seems like the only real weakness in the JJ.

Disclaimer: I like things fast, simple, and easy when it comes to my rebreather.

hammerhead electronics suck - end of story.

I have found that I hate any of them that involve the use of T pieces in the loop. This means my head does not turn without restriction as well as true back mounted lungs allow with only single hoses on each side. It also means the counterlungs do not dry out a fully or quickly as *cough* rEvo ones do. Drage dolphin ones had a drain plug in the bottom that allowed them to dry better than *cough* Meg, Inspo, Optima etc.

I found the Optima definitely has one of the best ADVs that I have ever used and I like having and ADV.

I am a huge Shearwater fan and that say all that is needed about electronics.

If you can not buy replacement counter lungs, such as the rEvo, then don't even get me started on all that complete crap. the dual scrubbers is awesome though.

Meg is pretty much built like a tank and has a long track record of being reliable. I fully understand all of Leons thinking in regards to his designs and they make sense from his military background. However, I am not a military diver and fully disagree with some of them and thus do not dive his units.

SF2 has some nice things going for it and I almost fell for all the hype but time showed that a couple of drawbacks such as design of head and wob when vertical makes it less than ideal too.

All of them with quick lock loop connections get points from me as this makes it quick and easy.

Fathom seems good but the only thing that I hate is the tanks being valve up. Seems overly dangerous and difficult to access.

SG electronics were problematic so the Defender is out. I felt like I was using glorified hammerhead electronic crap again.

I like having 4 cells, 3 monitoring systems, bmcl, adv, NO bov, single loop hoses, shearwater electronics

With all of this typed out it seems silly. I am back on my rEvo after giving a few others a chance. It is no more perfect than any of the others, but it comes the closest to checking all the boxes I want.
