Because I spend half of my life 'on-call' I can only dive two weeks a month. So my other hobbies still keep me busy. Besides running a 'hobby' farm, where we grow pumpkins and keep some bees for honey, I ride my Goldwing, and we camp quite a bit with our little 5th wheel. We usually add camping into our dive trips around the Great Lakes, and it works out real well. I also just renewed my Ham Radio Callsign (N3RHV) and work out at the gym 3-5 times a week, trying to keep my waistline out of the triple digits range  .

I just started working on some "farm art" that seems to be well received by some of the artsy crowd, and have been planning on building a catapult to toss rotten pumpkins back into the field from the sales area next season. (Will save me having to haul them back there with the trailer and tractor, and will get folks attention too....

I bike in the summer. About 14 miles a day on most days just for the pleasure of it. :) In the winter here, when snow abounds, I'm stuck on the tred mill for a while to maintain some cardio fitness, so I don't keel over on dive trips south. In between that, I manage a small business which sells topo maps ect. Love to swim distance also. I'm a bit of a water baby.

I sing professionally. Right now I'm relying on my budding opera career to take me places that have cool dives. Like South Africa.

I also play drums in a heavy metal band and occasionally shoot skeet and trap.

Right now I play softball, dive, boat, and go to the gym. This has been my pattern for a few years now. At different times I was flying airplanes (have my Private Pilot's license), competitive collegiate water skiing in Florida, surfing, snowmobiling, rollerblade, etc.

I have 2 little ones that keep me busy and active....they are 5 and 3. I have been working out a lot lately..plus going on a dive trip in March..hoping that me and my buddy will start running together again to prepare. yeah i know this is about "besides diving"...but I enjoy running as well and it helps! I don't have a lot of free time...so as far as other hobbies...they are pretty basic. I want to learn to fly...so that is the next big hobby. I am finally reading the latest Harry Potter. When the weather is warmer...i love doing stuff outside...i am not good at being still. The busier the better! Plus ....love to go to clubs and get my "freak" on and dance like no one is watching!

My GF complains that we arent doing the other sports as much (that we have invested money in gear for) - like biking and kayaking, but i feel we get about as much done as we did last year in the winter - the only time to do outdoor things in FL! We only dive every other weekend or once a month at the least, would like it to be more, but the driving to sites is a pain. I used to sail a lot before i came over here, although without any wind in FL (at least around Melbourne - unless there is a hurricane) it is pretty dull to do here. Tried a whole bunch of sports in college, but didnt keep that many up, the nearest i get to rowing now is at the gym, hardly wet though! Still try to get to the gym a few times a week, raquetball and jogging a few times a week also, really need to increase that time. I am going to start swimming (pool) again, in fact going tonight, i stopped over a year ago and have put on weight since, not good.

Maybe I need to get the bike back out more next summer.

Other things I didn't mention before:
I'm a BIG computer geek too. And a game geek. I play NHL on the computer when not watching my loser team.

Into photography too, mostly on dive trips though! And hopefully getting a housing soon, so does that really count as another hobby?

Used to do the gym 3-4 days a week. Then cut back to 3 days. Now none, not because of diving, though, just a few busy months, work, starting of the WV club, vacation, oh yeah and I had that new super flu for a week too!)

A quick list of obsessions and hobbies and other time-users that have been left by the wayside since I got certified.....

-sailing and racing my Flying Junior sailboat - this was my last obsession and while still keenly interested I just don't seem to have the time
-Avon - yep I am/was an Avon distributor
-website design and maintenance
-database programming
-plastic model building
-ice hockey refereeing
-hockey (playing)
-cycling
-snorkelling and freediving... well okay I still do that but only on days my scuba buddies are not available.

Mountain biking. This year was hard, with the crappy east coast weather (I refuse to trash our local trails right after rain -- too much erosion). I like to go a few times a week. An orthopedic nightmare, for sure, but as much fun as can be had during an extended surface interval.

One of my kids plays premier-level soccer (ODP state and regional teams, and state champion club team), so this requires a lot of parental participation (driving to/from, attending games & distant tournaments). I really enjoy watching the games.

I still enjoy gardening, but this year was a disaster for the same reasons that I didn't do as much mountain biking.

I used do a bit of homebrewing, but haven't made any beer in a while. I'd like to do a few batches this winter.
