Wendy:Besides diving (which I seemed to have done less of this year) I go dry caving, and recently took a vertical caving course so I can now rappeal and climb single rope to drop pits etc, which will double the amount of dry caving that can do now.
jonnythan:Are you an NSS member yet? Any chance I'll see you in Michigan at the 2004 convention? Also, if you have a week to spare I highly recommend you attend the NCRC Cave Rescue course held annually.. will really help you with some rope techniques, among other things. Oh yeah, pick up a copy of Alpine Caving Techniques and On Rope if you don't already have them. On Rope is sort of the bible of North American ropework, whereas Alpine Caving Techniques is a fairly new (well, newly translated anyway) that is a fantastic reference for how stuff is done everywhere else in the world. Welcome to the world of IRT
Wendy:Yep I am a NSS member, and I went to my first TAG this year. I won't make it to Michigan though, but plans are in the works to try and get the convention down here in Florida in a few years.
I took the orientation NCRC weekend course with Tim White a few months ago and did my SRT course with him as well. You can check out pics from both courses at www.caves.com/fss. I think you click on current events and they are listed there.
We are having a Florida Cave Cavort in March or April if you are interested in coming down I can let you know more info when plans are finalized.
