FreeFloat:
A quick list of obsessions and hobbies and other time-users that have been left by the wayside since I got certified.....

-sailing and racing my Flying Junior sailboat - this was my last obsession and while still keenly interested I just don't seem to have the time
-Avon - yep I was an Avon distributor
-website design and maintenance
-database programming
-plastic model building
-ice hockey refereeing
-hockey (playing)
-cycling
-snorkelling and freediving... well okay I still do that but only on days my scuba buddies are not available.

Can't believe I actually never got around to mentioning my current activities........

I'm also into dry caving, although I have yet to take a Cave Rescue course (my local grotto keeps recommending it). I've been hanging off the sides of cliffs on rope and lovin it too, although I have yet to do SRT inside a cave.

Kind of as an extension to caving I enjoy buying and restoring carbide lamps. So far I own 3 Autolites and a fourth one is in the mail. I've cave tested one of them and the second completed restoration will be cave tested the near future.

I also raise and breed fish. Currently I have 5 tanks: a planted 10G with fancy guppies, a 15G growout tank where the babies go, a 25G containing Kribensis which are dwarf cichlids, and a 55G destined for full-size African cichlids. Currently populated only by a handful of guppies until I can afford the Africans I want.

I'm also actively into Geocaching - look me up, I'm FreeFloat there too and in fact have set up an underwater cache in Kingston......... (search on waypoint GCJMTR)

There are also several social events organized by local groups I belong to, which get me out of the house some evenings :)

My zest for diving has cooled a bit whereby I no longer feel deprived if I don't get out at least three times a week... LOL

Right now, I'm mainly doing hiking and geocaching when I'm not diving. (If you haven't tried Geocaching, it's great!)

Oh yeah, did I mention that I read quite a bit? Diving, science, general fiction, history, I'm not too particular...

The rest of my time is spread between time with my wife and two children (Son, 15, Daughter 12) and work travel.

I was pretty much a dedicated couch potato until I started diving about five years ago. Diving made me realize how badly out of shape I'd let myself become, so I started going to the pool. Nothing serious, just some easy lap swimming.
That was three years ago. The easy lap swimming turned into Mon., Wed, Fri. workouts with a masters swim team, with long, easy swims on Tues & Thurs to recover from what the coaches did to me at workout.
